Out the top, mega easy. I have seen some goofy set ups with out lifts but thats down right scary.

A engine picker, removal of from accessories, Harness, exhaust, engine mounts and bell housing to engine bolts and it comes out just fine. YOu could un bolt the hood shocks, let the hood flip back and remove the cowl plastic too.

Drop it out the bottom, its honestly the only way to do it, took me five hours with a lift taking my time.. It wouldn't have taken much longer without the lift...

Without a lift??? I have never jack stands that would be tall enough to raise the car that high. I'm not trying to call anyone a liar, I just can't see how it can be done without a lift.

How is it done without lift?

Does someone have pics using jack stands?

yeah i did mine from the top as well. the motor and tranny came together by accident. it was my first time messing with an lt1 and found out that the tranny won't come apart unless you undo the clutch fork. so after twenty mins of trying to pull it apart i finally just tried pulling them both out together and i was using a forklift from work and chains, along with someone angling the tail of the tranny and it came out in like five or ten mins of messing with it.

We've pulled 25 of them without a lift and never had one problem. The key though is our cart we use.
