Default CC306 cam only guys ???

I am installing the cc306 in my auto with a 3000 stall and 373 gear. I was wondering if anyone drove their car with this cam before it was tuned for it. I will be driving it from the shop to my home which is approx an hour drive, will have to wait to see when i can get dyno time or mail order tune, any hepl appreciated!!!

Mine would not idle with that cam before a tune. There was no way I would have been able to drive it around. You will need more timing down low, higher idle setting. But every car is different.

+1 for driving easy untuned. let the bearing journals wear in until the tune. then use the cam the way its meant after!

I wouldnt even do the 306 without getting some supporting mods with your heads, it should actually decrease performence. But you will need a tune either way.

Not really, tuned right it'll make some power, theres been a couple good running cam only CC306 cars, would that be the best cam for a cam only set up, probably not, but it wont run slower than a bolt on car thats for sure.

you won't be getting the full potential of the cam....you'll have to stop short of the peak power band or you'll end up w/ some spent bearings at the least if you're lucky....I would break it in, tune it, then drive it...you have a msd...if it's a 6al run a limiter...

I know its not the best for cam only and I know I should get the heads ported. This car has 95,000 miles on it and i just wanted the crazy lope it offers along with how it performs with the juice. I studied the decision and happened to find a good deal. this is only short term until i build a stroker LT1 new from top to bottom. Thanks for all the replys !!!

Wow, lots of CC306 haters huh?

I guess the folks trapping 115 cam only full weight with the CC306 are decreasing their performance over just bolt on's? Most have no problems cracking of very low 12's with a decent setup.

I've seen this crappy cam run some damn good times, even into the 9's.

Let's try not to drink to much kool-aid, ok?
