Default A little help deciding a wrecked LT1s future

OK I was driving around trying to find a friends house to buy back my old 95 Firebird for a winter project and came across a wrecked 94 Formy convertable M6 car. The kid said he "drove it for 3 months before he crashed it and man is it fast" I ended up buying it very cheap (less than $1000.00) thinking I would save the T-56 trans and junk/part the rest. The car is was very well taken care of in its day and very clean throughout. The engine has a K&N coldair kit and is stock and appears totaly unmolested other than that. Motor may have been rebuilt but not sure, the valvecovers are not rusty and almost look new, it runs very good and drives straight and tight like a new car but has 143,000 on the clock. Trans shifts like a new one and has been rebuilt cuz it has a rebuilt tag on it.

I have a 95 LT1 M6, a 2000 SS LS1 M6, 98 V6 A4 Camaros, what should I do with this car??????????

Fix it! Verts are sweet. If you don't remind replacing quarter panels anyways.

Honestly, part it. I bought my convertible Z28 6-speed ('95) off of a moderator here for $3800.00. The body isn't flawless, but it's pretty damn nice. You can find 'verts for around 4500-5500 if you look. Seeing BOTH quarter panles on your car are trashed, that is a huge $$$ investment UNLESS you can do it yourself. If it was just fenders, which you can bolt -on I'd say go for it, but the damage, although cosmetic, is pretty bad.

Yup, clear title too. I'm going to fix it for just that reason, plus its an optioned up Formy. I need help getting the RPO codes for it. The RPO code sticker is all worn out so you cant read it...any ideas on how to get the code list for a specific car???

I also found the factory CD player in the spare tire well and its in perfect condition cept for the Vol and Tuning *****...weird.

143k is going to hurt anything you do with it in the end. Mileage isnt something that dealerships want, you might be able to privately sell it.

Looks like its not dinged up 'too' bad, if you have the time/money fix it and hope for the best when you try and sell it.

Good Luck!

Tony.

Pull the engine/trans/computer and slap it in an old 80's rwd celica or rx7!

Would be a fun project if you have the room for it

I wouldn't waste the time/money on fixing it. It is going to need a lot of work to get it right. I would part it out. You could at least get your money back for the engine/trans

Go to your local dealer to the parts dept. All i gave them was my VIN and they gave me the RPO list including a breakdown of the VIN and date it rolled off the floor.

I am not a big fan of parting out cars but that one is a tough one for me. All just depends on what kind of money you want to put into it as there is damage front front to back and could take a good bit of money to get that all straight.

Parting it would make you a good profit though and your money back.

I dont want to sell it or trade it in and I dont care if I ever get any money back out of it. My 2000 SS has soo much time and money invested I'll never get even half back if I sold it. I play with Camaros cuz I love working on and driving Camaros. I got an idea to mess with a Firebird and found one real reasonable at about the same time. Miles are just a number that are like age and wisdom if you look at it from the right angle. This car runs great so I think I'm fixing it. If I sit back and wait I can put it together for less than $1000 and have a nice car to drive to work on nice days.
