cant crack bleeder screws

Default cant crack bleeder screws

i tried a wrench, WD40, penetrating oil, etc. and cant for the life of me break loose the screws. anyone have tips so i dont snap them? these are the coolant bleeders BTW

You must be doing something wrong, all you should need is a screwdriver.

If they are rusted shut or something, you might try some heat.

wow, that's interesting.

Like I said maybe try some heat.

I've never had that problem, sounds like someone tightened them way too much.

actually it looked like some corrosion where they thread in. but im surprised the penetrating oil never got em. it worked on my header bolts

first try was the screwdrivers, then the wrench around the brass hex.

dont use the wrench around the hex.. use it on the top above the hex.. thats what screws on and off.. the other one does too but what are you trying to do? bleed the system?

They're brass from my understanding, so they can't rust thankfully. BUT The coolant can really play hell with the brass and seize them up :\ I would usually say use heat as well, but being on rubber lines, can't see that being too good of an idea

Vice grip and a wrench to hold the hex.

Then buy new ones from GM if available... might have to buy the whole assemblies to get 'em.
