Hes Right Thats Why When U Get A Tune They Ask U What U Want The Rev To Be At, And U Set Ur Shift Light A Couple 100 Rpms Before That Way U Have A Margain To Play With!

I've run my car to 6200 before, only three times, two of which were a missed shift, and to my knowledge, the car has had no tune, and I know that the tach is accurate at idle at least. The first time I missed a gear was at the track, heard it bounce, but have no idea what rpm it was.

I wouldn't believe the factory tach. I would only use it for a reference. If you want accurate shifts get a shift light or aftermarket tach.

Yes they do have them. And the tach is way off up that high. Mine is set to 6k also and it shows 6300-6400 when it hits the limiter.

last I knew all EFI cars and trucks have a rev limiter, I know my 1988 mazda has one cause I tagged it once, and it is "Pre OBD" , you just have to be careful when hitting the limiter on a motor that has push rods in it cause you can bend (or brake them when hitting the limiter really hard) that is why cam swaps usually need a tune, espally if the power band goes alot higher than stock, but most guys do it with any project that rquires a PCM tune
