underdrive pulleys Would there be an ill effects charging my car if I run underdrive pulleys? I have a small stereo system consisting of 2 12" 400 watt subs run off a 800 watt amp. Do you think there would be any problem with underdrive pulleys?
Underdrive pullies got a good reputation on cars where the waterpump is belt driven. The waterpump is very power hungry and underdriving it provided most of the potantial gains. The LT1 waterpump is not belt driven therefore you are not underdriving it. FAR less potential for gains.

Electric waterpump is an option for power, but consider the drawbacks first. They are hard to monitor for failure, and while seal life is pretty good these days, and a lot of folks run them on the street, I don't really consider an EWP a 'drop in and forget' kind of mod.

My car came with the march underdrive pulleys. I have a similar sub/amp setup as you...and it put too much of a strain on the charging system so I bought the March Overdrive pulley for the alternator...and I still have problems. I honestly wouldn't waste the money on them.
Since the previous owner installed the underdrive pulleys I cant give any advice on whether there was any power gain, but as the last person said they gained 4hp on a dyno...doesn't seem worth it to me.
