Default Opti?

hey guys im looking at a 94 z28 that im wanting for a DD as opposed to my ls1. its a really nice looking car and only has 126k. the opti is fried but hes only asking 2k for the car. i think thats a good deal, what do you guys think? anyway my question is how much is replacing the opti going to run me total? id assume 200$ for opti/cap/rotor then a waterpump gasket, and what else? just getting a good idea of what im getting into. i hear they are a bitch to install, how big a bitch?

As long as its just the opti. id make sure. otherwise its a good deal. I just did mine about a month ago its not as hard as people say. I did it on a 93 so it has the splined shaft you just have to align the splines correctly. takes about an hour and a half to completely remove and install. good luck!

Cap and rotor alone are 200. Opti will be 350-500. Might as well do a WP if its not brand new or else it will leak in a month and you will have to do it over.

STAY AWAY from the ebay opti.....its proven those optis arent genuine acdelco products...this topic has been beat to death as well..you can order a genuine GM Opti from JEGS ..the website says 374 now but when i ordered it i got it shipped for 292...maybe the price went up..anyways here is the link....

if you are changing your 94 opti a good mod to do is the vented conversion.

costs more now but if it ever goes out later its a cheaper distributor and less chance it'll fry because of moisture

Have you checked the plug wires? could be a simple solution.

I got an original GM opti off ebay for about 250. It came in the ac delco box and had the orange cap. You could do it for under $400. Heres one also: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-L...spagenameZWDVW

the opti is not hard at all to do, it all just takes time. You'll want to get new plugs and wires while your doing the opti install.
