No More HyperTech!!!
Well I ran the car tonight without the HyperTech programming for the first time ever. I'm not sure if it performs any different but it sure as hell lets the cam be heard. It sounds like its eating babies with the cutout open, I love it. I don't know why the tune would make that much difference though...

dude hypertech is the biggest load of crap(sorry) i was at the track one day when i first got my car and a 98z28 was running a 14.1 to my 14.15. he had 275/40/17s to my really dry offbrand 245s. after three runs he removed the tune from the programmer and ran a 13.6! what a ls1 should in stock form!

Well when we built the car in 02' the guys from Lonestar Performance here in Tyler said it was the **** and would fix any problem the car might have with the cam. We loaded it and kept it in thinking it would run like shiznit without it. I'm gonna check gas mileage without it this weekend and see if there is a difference. With it I got 24 on the highway, I'll see what it does without it.

Were the guys at Lonestar Performance a vendor for Hypertech, or did they recommend it out of the goodness of their heart?

I agree. I used mine lots for this. The tune sucked (I checked it at IRP) so I never used it after that. But the other functionality worked fine, and I never lost the PCM after a number of changes/writes. And it worked when I sold it to someone else, too (after taking it back to stock so I could upgrade to a real tuning package).

igained 10hp on the dyno with mine it leaned it out a lot and i raised my top speed raised my rev limiter and shift points and fixed my speedo after gear swap so your car probably sounds more cammy at idle with out the tune because its running richer but you probably lost some power and gas milage.

Yeah I'm thinking it may have hurt my mileage a little, cant really tell too much in town but it seems to be sucking it down harder than usual. When I'm reving it, it's not quite as responsive as it was with the tune, but still damn touchy. But it revs so damn quick its hard to tell.

Yeah, I'm thinking it smells a tit rich.

Its a cam we had custom ground from CompCams... I'm not sure of the duration, like 224 or something if I remember, its been like 5 years, and the lift was .560 intake and .572 ex I think... Its nothing crazy, but has a nice chop to it.

I always hear **** about the mailorder ones, and I really can't afford to just go down and drop $500 on a tune... It runs fine the way it is, gets good mileage, and gets me to school.
