That’s the one that I run and I’m happy with it. I bought that one because it is light weight and has a large diameter to help dissipate the energy.

I installed an aluminum shaft (Lingenfelter) and felt no real difference, except the $300 less in my wallet. However, I did wind up with a clearence problem, as the larger OD of the shaft caused it to hit the e-brake cable retainer under full suspension compression. It machined a nice groove in the shaft, so I put the OE steel shaft back in.

I'm running the Eibach Pro-Kit springs, along with the Energy Suspension motor mounts and tranny mount.

I noticed no difference. I did this mod primarily for weight savings.

I picked up a few MPH at the track which gave me a better ET...does it make a diff? Certainly. Plus the LS1 aluminum shaft is a bigger diameter than the stock steel and also has heavier duty yoke ends...visibly larger. I had clearance issues with my DS saftey loop because the diameter of the LS1 shaft was bigger than the stock steel shaft I had.

To calculate the pickup you get:
1lbs of drivetrain wieght loss = 10lbs body weight.

As you can see if you get a driveshaft thats even 3lbs pounds lighter its like loosing 30lbs off your car...well worth the money IMO.

Always keep your stock steel shaft though...might come in handy

Isn't the Lingenfelter shaft supposed to be stronger than the LS1 shaft? Is it also lighter than the LS1 shaft? Does anyone know how much the LS1 shaft weighs?

There is definatly a very noticable diff in wieght between the LS1 aluminum and stock steel shaft, holding one in one hand and the other in the other hand. I didnt wiegh it but willing to guess at least a 4-5lb diff if not more.

So that would be like shaving off 40-50lbs off the car which would be close to picking up almost half a tenth at the strip. If you follow every 100lbs lost = one tenth.

i have an LS1 DS and it's significantly lighter. mine never had a vibration problem, so I have no opinion there. i did mine mainly for weight reduction.
