Default nitrous or cam and rr?

Like the title says, I will be getting at least $600 soon and I was wondering if you guys think I should do nitrous or a cam and rr? This is on my daily driver, and I would prefer to not kill it as soon as I get the power, I want reliable power, not power thats useless and kills my car.

Waiting on that $600 they are sending to home owners huh? Can't beat free money! Anyway to do either one it will cost more than $600, try more like $1000 just in parts.

What do you have now as far as mods? You need supporting mods before you do a cam. And like I said both of your choices will cost over $600.

I'd go with a cam and rr's. I'm very anti-nitrous though. Nitrous will end up costing you more in the long run too. Once you run out, you'll have to pay to have the bottle filled. Do you know any place that fills nitrous bottles? I think of nitrous as being for motors that can't make enough power on their own. LT1's don't have any problems making power, so there's no need for nitrous.

thats just it, if i started spraying...id be scared to death im pushing the little self destruct button n going to blow my engine all to hell! im wanting to go more with the cam n rr as for supporting mods the only other mods needed is lifters pushrods n valvesprings n a tune, i dont want some fancy pants loud exhaust, right now i want to be as close to stock as i can be, but i want more power, n be stealthy ive been looking at the 227 cam, and i have stock heads n intake, n couldnt afford them if i wanted to! so id have a cam only car, which is exactly what i want!

LOL I'm not talking about what you need for a cam swap I have been there and know exactly what you need for that. I'm talking about headers, catback, CAI, free mods? All that stuff is needed before a cam because a cam needs to breathe and if you throw it in without any of that stuff your gain won't be worth the money you spent as you won't gain much.

You don't really. There was a thread a while back talking about a silent cam. And Speed Inc put their Cadillac cam into an LT1 WS6 with just drop in K&N filter and Flowmaster 80 series muffler. I think they said that they got 330rwhp out of it. The good thing about the cam is also that you can't hear any lope, or so I've heard. I know that the WS6 has the ram air, so it would breathe a little better, but it shouldn't be too much of a difference.

EDIT: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...+silent&page=3

I guess I never saw that thread? Very interesting info there though, I'd like to see this cam in action and see its lift/duration.

I think you have to call to get the specs. I'm really interested in the cam too. But, I also kind of want the cam lope. It's more intimidating.

theres lots of stealthy cams out there but you need to look it up for your application. do you want a streetable car or a ***** to the wall race car. imo nitrous is either for strait up racing or being able to beat a car that doesnt expect it. a cam setup will probably be slower than just throwing a 100 shot on your car but the diff. is you can always say N/A. then if you want to go faster hit it with the bottle. then you are that much faster when you need to spank a vette or something lol! j/k either are great for a considerable power difference but w/out a proper tune you are going to be dissappointed with both.

ok part one is done, ive made up my mind, a cam isnt going to blow my engine all to pieces the first time i use it now i need to find out which cam to use, i dont really care what it sounds like, imo the quieter the better, but i want the MOST i can get out of a stock engine, n then getting some bolt ons, im already planning on the cai, and a not too obnoxious catback, in the future, the free mods? the tb bypass? -40 i think i need it! remove the silencer in the intake elbow, done, move the sensor? coming when the engine goes back together. is there any more that i missed? oh and the 160* ts n then a tune i need a tune anyways, might as well get it tuned for a cam too but im still lost on all the cam stuff its just a big bunch of numbers, n the hot cam is deff NOT what i want! i want the most i can get with a almost stock engine! thanks for your replys guys! i appreciate it.

btw its an m6 car and im leaving the gears thats in it, i like the gear ratio and ive got to drive a long ways to work. so dont start flaming get gears n a stall.

Either mods, which ever direction you go, will require some basic supporting mods. Think of it this way, once you start modding, it will require you to keep adding on mods to match the present combination for the quest for more POWER!

Honestly, I would replace the rims you have on your car first. You don't like them, get rid of them.

im still looking for wheels, i havent found any i really like yet, but i did find a set i like on here in the fs section for 500 with 80% tires but i dont think i would ever get that back out of my wheels n i really would rather have performance over a set of nice wheels
