My biggest mistake was doing no research, and having no plan, prior to getting my car out of long term storage. We just got it out of storage and started going at it. I replaced all of my fuel injectors with GP Sorenson from Autozone & Advance. I'm sure I could have gotten better injectors for less money.

I also didn't bother replacing the sending unit on my fuel pump because it was so damned expensive from the dealer, so my fuel gauge doesn't work. It would have been much cheaper from someone like Jason Cromer, and I probably would have done it had I known then what I know now.

Other than that, I don't really have any regrets so far.

Not paying attention to where I routed the plug wires after I changed my plugs. About 25 minutes after starting the car and driving it, the car started missing really bad. Turns out one of the wires was right against my header. So then I just had to get right back under the hood and change the Wires too. That's about it though. (crosses Fingers)

Working on my buddys 93 Z. Not engine wise, but the dumbest thing I did was attempting to save the inner sleeves and bolts on the lower control arm bushings.

my bad then. If you're not porting the heads and just want to save $, nothing really wrong with it.

My friend broke a tap inside of a header bolt hole (dont ask me how haha) so we had to take the whole head out to get it helicoiled

Not initially permanently attaching my IAC mod tube and having it drop into a head immediately after I had just finished buttoning up the intake manifold.

what do you guys got ?
same here. I just said screw it and bought another set of stock heads, I'm getting them ported and rebuilt and then.. and THEN I'm going to heli-coil ALL of the exhaust threads. I'm tired of that weak aluminum giving out on me.

I used the wrong kind of sealant on the back of my intake because I was in a rush and it ran down into the oil pan and sucked up in the pump. Once I put my 700r4 in and forgot to hook up the detent cable which in turn caused my transmission to blow up. Also I accidentally dropped a piece of a helicoil in the intake port of my head and it scored up one of my pistons. All this caused me to rebuild. That was a mistake I will never make again. Never rush your work.

after installing my headers, i was trying to fit my y-pipe in between the headers and my already installed borla catback. well got frustrated, started pounding on the ypipe with my open hand and sliced my hand off of the heat shield. needless to say my hands were covered in grease from installing the headers and i got 14 stitches at the hospital.
