Default Pacesetter to good to be true?

I know someone who owns an lt1 car and just ordered hooker long tube headers coated for like 7xx some bucks. To me this seems insane when pacesetters are only 389 with free shipping and they are coated. This guy told me he saw a set of Pacesetters and said they seemed flimsy and cheap. So should I spend the money on pacesetters or just save and get hookers?

pacesetters seem to be really popular around here. Ive never really heard anything negative about them beyond installing them. Id get the pacesetters and save the extra cash for something else.

the only thing i noticed about my pacesetters is that there was a bit a welding slag left behind in the ports but otherwise they were flawless

they are hardly flimsy and cheap i believe they use 16 guage tubing which beats out the hookers at 18 guage and the mounting flange on the pacesetters are 3/8 inch thick vs. the hookers at 5/16 inch thick

it sounds like to me the pacesetters are a lot better buy

I love my pacesetters, I wouldn't go with anything else of the same price. go pacesetter and save that extra money for something else. PS's are a great header, nice and thick, good coating, look great and sound great !

my hookers have a 3/8's flange. I wouldve done pacesetters if i didnt get such a good deal on my hookers, One thing ive heard negative on the pacesetters is suposedly the coating on the inside makes your o2 sensors go bad until its all burned off. Personally when i was looking at buying pacesetters i was going to buy them from jet hot for 460$ and not have to worry about pacesetters cheap coating. paying 70$ for a better coatings worth it to me.

I kinda wish I went a diff route. My passenger side rests on the heat shield and causes an annoying rattle. This is on a car with new mounts on the tranni and motor.

Herron Performance will get u a price for around $400 shipped....

pacesetters are great for the money. the only bad thing about them is installation (but what longtube header isnt on a LT1) and coating, the coating wont last and they will begin to rust after about a year or 2 depending on how often u DD ur car..

YES, the jet-hot coating owns all, i have had my jet-hot coated headers for 4 1/2 years, no rust still looks great.

Had this happen to mine, they've been on my car for almost 2 years and almost all the coating has flaked off...

o yeah no competition, PLUS jet hot gives a 3 year warranty on their coating, and a LIFETIME warranty on the headers they sell so if the flanges warp, they rust thru anywhere, weld crack, they'll fix/give you another pair.

How much do they charge to coat them? I may just do that when I buy my Pacesetter LT's here in the next couple months.

$15 a foot, or you can just buy them coated from their webpage.

Its actually cheaper if you just order your pacesetters from them, just call them up, they dont have them listed on their site, but they do stock them, i asked a couple weeks ago and they said they had their coated pacesetter long tubes for 460$. To me that sounds like a deal.
