Once you get the initial setting, then do them hot, not very much. This is a relative question really. If you pop for good valve train parts IE: good springs, valves, shaft rockers you very rarely have to adjust them. I check them from time to time but seeing as I put 3-4000 miles a year on the car.....once a year.

If you skimp on valve train parts, who knows how much adjustment is needed.

Really if everything is happy no real adjustment is needed unless there is a problem or abnormal wear.

ok called wyotech and got a hold of my instructor........
they do not keep records of flow bench readings. the only thing they keep records of is projects that the students bring in and work on.
they have that i built an engine, used the machining tools. but other than that no specific records....

so ive been reading this thread. Would you guys say that stock ported heads even compare with a "budget" aftermarket head setup?

Been proven that stock ported heads will compare favorably to a LOT of the aftermarket stuff even heavily ported aftermarket stuff. At least if you compare genuinely good work on LT1 castings to the popular work on aftermarket.

But would the fact the all the internal components of the stock heads like the pushrods, springs, lifters, and rockerarms not being upgraded affect anything else other than rev limit? Im speaking specificaly JUST stock ported heads compared to a "budget aftermarket head swap.

I have LE2 heads on the car now and she put down over 400 HP to the wheels.

I think I am going to go TFS or Dart and have Lloyd to a part job on them with a bigger cam. The Darts seem cheap for 500 or so for a bare casting. At least that is what it said in the new GM High Tech.

You obviously don't have a very good grasp of this topic.
The stock springs give up on a stock cam at stock rpm levels, there are gains to be had in JUST a spring swap.

The pushrods, lifter, rocker arms DO NOT COME WITH AFTERMARKET HEADS.

So are you you specifically trying to place some asinine handicap on ported stock stuff just so you can pretend as cast aftermarket is better???

Guys have blindly swapped to as cast aftermarket stuff before, don't remeber a single one that ran well either.

That why Im on this site and asking questions. so that I can learn as much as I can and so I mod w/o doing anything stupid to my car.

Ok, so with this new info for me...and this may be an option for the OP... What about porting and upgrading the internals instead of buying the whole aftermarket set of heads new? would it even compare? and Im talking the same quality internals as a set of AFR heads or LE2s...

I have as-cast DART pro1 heads and the car runs great with the cc305. 7.8s in the 8th all day through a stock stall and stock slushbox A4.. Not sure on power though, haven't dyno'd it. I have no need to either

The dyno is a tool. The flowbench is a tool. The track is the test.
