Come to think of it, I believe the cam only LT1 record was set in a car running a Crane 227. Whether or not that record has been broken or not I don't know. Maybe somebody else can clarify the details.
The guy who set the record with the 227 actually beat his own record running a custom Joe O cam but yea the 227 held it for a while, granted the car was light.

No Prob. Here's the alternative I was talking about:

Ai: 208/226 .525/.540 112lsa
vs.
Crane 227: 210/224 .511/.553 112lsa

It is claimed to make as much peak power as the slightly larger hot cam but it however has a strong low end and mid range with peak power at 5800. May be a tad better than the 227 on the high end but I haven't yet seen results but its definetly worth a shot. Both are made from billet steel so they are good stuff. If I was looking for a sleeper type cam I would want to go with the 227 in terms of its reputation but at the same time go with the Ai cam because it is newer technology and I bet it may slightly outperform it.

comparing them at 0.050" won't show much - the lobes are pretty different.

I was under the inclination that the lobes were relatively similar I guess I was misinformed. Care to share what you know about the differences so I now know?
