Sleeper Cam

thanks for clearing that up for me stealth. i'm thinking about the 227 if i ever actually get around to doing a cam change, but i'd like to hear more about the alternative you have found sometime

Both the Crane 227 and the Lingenfelter 211/219 are EXCELLENT sleeper cams. They aren't the biggest and nastiest, and they do not show the most power on the dyno, but the low end torque they provide will make them run right along with some of the bigger cams down the track. Come to think of it, I believe the cam only LT1 record was set in a car running a Crane 227. Whether or not that record has been broken or not I don't know. Maybe somebody else can clarify the details.

Ai: 208/226 .525/.540 112lsa
vs.
Crane 227: 210/224 .511/.553 112lsa
It is claimed to make as much peak power as the slightly larger hot cam but it however has a strong low end and mid range with peak power at 5800. May be a tad better than the 227 on the high end but I haven't yet seen results but its definetly worth a shot. Both are made from billet steel so they are good stuff. If I was looking for a sleeper type cam I would want to go with the 227 in terms of its reputation but at the same time go with the Ai cam because it is newer technology and I bet it may slightly outperform it.

No Prob. Here's the alternative I was talking about:
