cooling question
Well summertime is coming fast here in az and i notice my car is getting a little hot at lights and sitting in rush hour so i wanted to know if this would be a good buy along with a 160 degree thermostat, Also do you have to get it programmed into the pcm when you have this installed? thanks everyone. Here is the part i am talking about.

I would use the SLP manual switch if you aren't getting a tune.

So for $78 including handling you could turn the fans on early, or for say $150 you can get the software and cable to completely adjust all the tuning in the computer or you could get a cable and mailorder tune. Once you have the cable you can check operation of everything and scan CEL codes so it is something that saves you a fortune in the longrun.
Dyno tuning is overrated.
I understand wiring in a switch to run the fans to cool in the pits but for daily tempature control something like that switch kit is just ignorant. Let the computer do it's thing, if you don't like what it does adjust it don't override it.

pcmperformance has a nice little compact tidy USB cable, AKMcables are good too but a little more clumsy. $50-65
Software is Tunercat $70 for the program- $20 for the OBD1 LT1 definition file and there is free datalogging software but most of us endup with Datamaster for another $90.
So by the time you get the datalogging stuff it cost over $200 BUT it is some of the best money you can spend if trying to drive and modify a vehicle this old. You can see sensor readings starting to show signs of failure long before it sets a CEL, you can troubleshoot things that don't set a CEL, you can fine tune things.
You could also get email tuning from someone like madz28 for $75 and not have to buy software just the cable, he can change much more than just the fans for you.
The 94-95 LT1 is probably the cheapest/easiest OEM computer system to reprogram and while not perfect is capable of a LOT and very adjustable.
