I have one Rossler TH200. It was good for 15 passes! I have had no success with getting it freshened. TH200's are tricky. They are really fast, but very few people can make them last. I have had zero luck working with local shops to freshen any TH200. That said, a good TH200 is a good .010 faster than my best TH350.
That is surprising out of them. Did you ever talk to Carl about it?

My mistake though, they call the one in the pro mod a TH210 not TH200. Is it built off the same trans? I know next to nothing about them.

I spoke to him one time, but didn't really get the answer that I wanted. I'm not sure what the TH210 is based on. Don't get me wrong, I am a strong believer in running the TH200. I have them in both Firebirds (Turbo Action). If you want a reliable "fast" transmission I would suggest a TH350 with aluminum drums and drilled shell, etc. If you want that last little bit run the TH200. Run a deep pan without a cooler and try to avoid "hot lapping".

Good Luck,

Daren

I found a place called Dynamic Converters / Pro-Formance Transmissions that builds TH200s. They don't have any prices, but I'm going to keep them in mind when it comes to order parts. The thing that got me excited is, "Options "Special note" - The TH-200 is now available as a retrofit to use with either a TH350, TH400 or Powerglide converters with no modifications. Bolts right in!"

That's perfect for me because I have one TH350 converter and am going to be getting another one soon. What do you have done to yours?

Second EDIT = Just this part: (I checked out the Turbo Action ones also and they run TH200s for a really good price. I might end up talking to them about the transmission too when it comes time.)

First EDIT = From here down: I left this open and didn't realize there was about 10 posts since I last checked it.

I believe Rossler's TH210 is based off of a TH400 with a 2.10 first gear. I was planning on building a TH350 in fact I already have it, but then I started reading about the TH200s. There's not a whole lot of information out there about them performance wise. I plan on running mine behind a Heads / Cam LS1 in my 93. I like the fact that it's about 39 lbs lighter than a TH350 and takes less energy to operate.

On the front bumper support are you allowed to modify it in any ways? If you are you can take a torch or a cutting wheel and cut a huge 5-10 lb section out of the middle of it. It will still allow you to mount the foam on it, but keep weight off of the nose of the car.

Keep the application in mind when you are choosing a transmission. If you are planning to run a TH200 or a light weight TH350/400 you are looking at a race only transmission. There is a bunch of ET to be gained by reducing rotating weight. I once loaned one of my TH350's to a friend who was already running a TH350. It picked him up a solid tenth in the 1/8th! It did not have any aluminum parts. The aluminum drums are worth .05-.10, but are a wear item. As stated above, I have Turbo Action TH200's in both cars. They seem to last longer than anything else I have tried (TH200). I have a JPT TH200 that is probably the best one that I have. The difference in ET betwean my best ATI "Ultra TH350" and a Turbo Action TH200 is approx. .10 in my Stocker. Depending on what race I am running I could have a TH200 or TH350, 2.52 or 2.75 first gear, 5000 to 5700 converter (all behind the same motor). At one race last year we changed converters betwean rounds!!

The rules state that the bumpers should be stock. Lots of other places to save weight though. My LT1 Formula weighs approx. 3000 lbs with me in it (190 lbs).

Skip,

I wish that I weighed 170! I am about to make a trip to India, so I will probably get my wish!!

IMO, the best converter for Stock Eliminator is the ATI MRT 8". I would suggest that you start with a tight stall (4800-5200). It is well worth the money to buy ATI. If you are planning to run a TH350, give me a call. Maybe I can help you out.

Take Care,

Daren

GIZMO this is awesome! Like everyone else has said, I wish that someone had done something like this with me when I was younger. I'm not old by any means right now at 23, but it would have been nice to have some guidance. Everything I know has been self taught with the exception of my first oil change(Thanks Dad).
I am subscribing to this thread and I can't wait to see the finished product. Good Luck and God Bless on your trip to India.

I'll give you a shout after Christmas about the trans. Right now, I'm cleaning up the heads and getting ready to put the springs on. I finally got the spacers for the lifters made. I'm taking this build slow, I'm doing all the stuff that I can myself. Chuck N. has been a real blessing as he has been helping me with the cylinder head build info. You and Chuck have been an awful big help to me over the last year or so. I can't thank you guys enough

Thanks for the information on the transmissions. I just picked up an 8 inch Coan 5200 that I'd had my eye on for a long time. I'm guessing you are limited to a 3000lb race weight? Otherwise I have quite a few ideas on how to take weight out.

I have about 50 lbs that I can get out of my Formula and still pass tech. The kids car should be quite a bit lighter. Keep in mind that my Formula has a full interior including factory front seats, headliner, carpet, etc. We are also restricted to running factory body parts and glass. It also has a ten point cage, stock A-arms, and factory K-member.

3000 lbs is with both seats.

Are you raceweight limited or only limited to items you can remove? I can think of a few things right off the top of my head that you probably haven't removed that would drop some weight. Post up a link to the rules and I'll think of ways to take weight out.

I 'm not sure that the full Stock Eliminator rules are posted anywhere. The cars fit specific classes based on weight and HP, so they have to meet a minimum for the selected class. Any combination can run in three different classes. For IHRA the LT1's are a natural B/FIA combination. You can add weight to run C and remove weight to run A. The rules are very specific as to what can be removed/added.

This is the white car after its first trip to the body shop.

What class do you plan on running the white car in? I see a couple things right there that can pretty much go. I'm going to try and look up the rules.

We are starting to get there! Today the kids installed a new GM radiator, hoses, and thermostat. They also installed the ATI damper.
