lt1 LT headers vs ls1 LT headers
Alot has to do with AIR and EGR also. If you get race version headers without those provisions, they are much easier to put in.
for the LT1 are:
* disconnect negative battery cable
* remove engine temperature (gauge) sensor on driver's side.
* remove plugs
* remove old y-pipe and exhaust manifolds
* remove oil dipstick tube.
* remove starter
* remove driver side engine mount through-bolt
(* some headers require the removal of the steering shaft)
* lift engine on driver's side enough to slide header in place and install
header bolts loosely.
* drop driver side engine down and reinstall through-bolt
* remove (it should be there) single ground wire (about 18 gauge)
from passenger side engine block (so you dont snag/break it).
* remove passenger side engine mount through-bolt
* lift engine on passenger side enough to slide header in place and install
header bolts loosely.
* drop passenger side engine down and reinstall through-bolt
* reinstall single ground wire back to passenger side of block
* replace starter
* replace oil dipstick tube
* tighten all header bolts up to proper torque
* install spark plugs and wires
* reinstall engine temp (gauge) sensor on driver's side
* install y-pipe/whatever on back-side of collectors.
* if going with emissions headers, install all emissions equipment.
* re-install negative battery cable.
Hopefully, I've covered most of all the important stuff.
