Thanks for all the ideas. While if they have a tow truck or dolly wheels, they’re gonna get any car they want, I’m looking to stop those guys who’ll try to get in the car and drive it away.
I wanted a Steadfast collar but they make them for Camaros not Firebirds. Easy, my steering column was shot so I swapped in a Camaro column with mostly all new guts including an ignition key that doesn’t match the vin. The Steadfast is installed.
I know there was some chatter about how easy it is to bypass or fool the VATS system, I’m still looking for information on how it’s done and what we can do to make it less vulnerable.

I know it was posted before..... can't remember where. Granted it was only how to bypass it. Do not think you can make the VATS itself stronger you might as well just move on to the next step which is aftermarket alarms etc.

you could rig up something like Biff in back to the future. where you have to mash the gas, brake and clutch and the beep the horn in a certain sequence then turn the key to start the car.

honestly, I just cover the vin with a piece of paper. I know you can get in trouble for this, but I just plan to pretend that I had no idea how that business card got there, or just be honest and tell them I did it because there are a lot of lazy drug addicts that would rather steal your car then get a real job.

Goes back to if they want it it is GONE...you cn't stop other than a rookie.
And to be honest LT1's never were popular to be stolen now with keys in them most would pass it up for something of value.
Value as in what can they sell it for, not what you feel it is worth. Sleep well knowing it will likely always be there when you look for it.

Thats right hide your vin # if possible cause anyone can just make a key for your car and even a local autoparts store like NAPA or Advance Auto Parts, or Auto Zone can order you a key less entry thing with just a vin# and then that disables the alarm giving a theif a decent amount of time to get your car with out you noticing.. some auto parts stores ask to see an ID and registration but they only look at it to see if the name matches they don't call it in... well hey that can be forged with a little bit of time, microsoft word, and the right color construction paper... so definitly hide your VIN# if possible

the remotes you order from the local storest still have to be programed via the car i would say to install some sort of gps system installed by a good high end shop i use do alarms on high end cars i installed clifford man i use to hear some stories but like every one elis says they use to steal the cars right off the lot with roll backs o mile car disaper i live in tampa now and buy and sell car i would have to say 1998-00 civic is the hot ticket of coarse the get the car back - body panels one last ting if you want you could always buy on of those system form the robocop movie which electrocutes them and dumps them out of the car or the flamethrower under the out side of the door lol

in my opion the real way to secure your stuff is to sit there with a 12 gauge and put a few rounds in him when he trys anything funny yea a little messy but effective, all other methods can be bypassed.

Beaters are the best defense against theft. Buy a reliable vehicle that you don't give a damn about and have a lot less stress. My car stays in the garage and if it gets jacked there my homeowners insurance covers it. When it does get driven I am always close.
I have a 97 Buick LaSabre that I daily drive. No body gives that Buick a second glance including the cops.
