Headlights wont go down, but go up...
so wtf, im driving home tonight, turn the headlights off... and they dont do **** -_-. so i crank them down a little, try to get them to go down, yet nothing. no noise, NOTHING. i cranked them all the way down, turn them on.. BLAM they go back up.
Very odd... has anyone had this problem? know a quick fix? its too dark out and im tired.

So they automatically go up if theres power to the car, and you can crank them down if theres no power. Sounds like a short to me, somethings giving power to the motors when the car is on.

More than likely its the HCM module (Headlight Control Module) fairly common failure on these cars (firebirds). You should be able to have someone test the correct values for this module.

Have you messed with your headlights at all before this started to happen? If worst comes to worst, just replace the motors that make the lights go up and down. I've never heard of this, but the most common thing is for the teeth on the gears to go bad and it makes a grinding noise when you put them down. I guess some genius engineer thought that a plastic gear and a metal one would work great together huh?

It's located on the drivers side fenderwell under where the airbox would be if we had the standard Trans Am... not the Ram Air
Looks kind of like this
If you have a buddy with a LT1 Firebird or Trans Am you could switch it out and see if that's the problem...let us know if you do.
