Default Sb2.2/lt1?

I was just curious about the SB2.2 and stumbled across these photos. Anybody ever heard of this?

Yes. Great power, and very expensive.

what all would you have to do to run them? is it more than just converting them to reverse cooling? theres a pair on ebay now for only 1599.

Ask N2ODave, from what i understand his is a 396 lt1 block with the sb2.2 setup on top, and it runs like a bat out of hell. The problem with the setup is that if you just buy the heads and not the intake, then you have to usually port match the intake to the heads. Also it is a lot of money because the valve train is usually a jesel setup.

"Anyone notice thats got an LT1 waterpump on it?"

UMMM, the whole point of this post is that it's a set of heads designed for a standard SBC on a LT1 block.

Does anybody know how the coolant passages between the block & heads & intake and heads got worked out?

Let's see, if I had the money:

Stout 383 short block;
SB2.2 heads & needed valvetrain;
SB2.2 intake with injector bosses and a throttle body;
Intake elbow;
Some kind of a custom cam;
Tube by tube, weld by weld custom headers made in the car in Kook's shop.

It would run like no other LT1, eh?

Hold on, I'm checking my lottery tickets now......

How in the hell are they using heads for sbc on lt1?

sbc=regular coolant flow
LTx=reverse coolant flow

Aren't the passage's completely different?

I'm ready to learn, whoever plans on chirping in some info!

I believe 2.2 heads are winston cup heads along with the 23 and 18 degree heads for Chevy but someone feel free to correct me. Talk to N20Dave, hes got a nasty car with a set of them.

Any competent performance machine shop can convert Gen I heads to work on Gen II motors, the conversion isnt even all that expensive for a standard 23* Head.

You are looking at BIG money to make these work.

SPecific pistons, intake, valvetrain...headers have to be BUILT, there is no off the shelf header that works. Plus the conversion to reverse flow.

Big money.

Makes big power.
