52mm or 58mm throttle body, gains?
im modding my car in order, working from the cold air intake, elbow, throttle body, intake, ect. so next on the list in the tb, what will i see for gains for upgrading to a 52mm or 58mm tb? and would a 58 give me alot more than a 52? the reason is im a big fan of lingenfelter but they only a 52mm, and im a noob so for airflow im basically going off the "Bigger is better" reasoning. ( i know this is not always true but it makes sense in this case ) so lets see what you guys have to say. if 58mm is better i will probably be going with a holley.

yeah you need to port your intake to make a 58 mm work. stick with a 52 its plenty big for even H/C engines.
at this point i'd skip the throttle body and get some headers. you really only need an intake, headers, ORY, and catback (as far as gains, elbows are arguable). until you do something to the engine you can get away with the stock throttle body. if you really wanna do something just spend $20 and get a little airfoil off ebay.
once you get into the H/C then you can do a bigger TB.

Your stock TB is good for over 400HP. If your making over that amount, get the 52mm. Don't put a 58mm on an otherwise stock LT1. You'll probalby loose a little power with the 58mm, and the car won't run right. The only time you should run a 58mm or larger TB is if the car is using forced induction, or a large dose of NO2. I'm running 13.3-13.5 with the mods in my sig, on a stock TB. Just my $.02. Good Luck!

if you are going to upgrade your TB, do not go above a 52mm. the 58mm will kill your low end torque. stick to the 52mm, it will help you with throttle response. you will need to port your intake or buy an already ported intake at the time of the install. good luck with it.

yea dont worry im doing mac mids and y for my fall or winter project, got that under control. and the thing is, there was ported intake on ebay for little over 200$ shipped the other day and ill probably get that and the tb out of the way this summer. and the car will be a heads, cam, full bolt on car in the future im just getting the little bolt on mods out of the way for now

Do those things really help?
And I have a BBK throttle body on my car that someone installed before I owned it. BBK says theres no way to actually identify if its a 52 or 58 without just measuring it. Anyone know another way to identify if its a 52 or 58?
