Default Prom needed

Just one more step in diagnosing my issue, I want to replace my prom. Where could I find a NOS prom for my 93?
My local auto parts place couldnt find me one.

Yeah. My ecm/prom was/is under suspicion of failure. I replaced the ecm, which was a challenge enough finding one... But, reused my prom from the old computer, and the condition still exists.

www.speeddensity.org

moates.net, you could invest and get your own burner and sister chip for later down the road. And Craig Moates is a badass.

This is what I'm contemplating on buying. It'll burn the EEPROM too, so you don't need to light-erase the PROMs, instead it'll erase them for you. 28C256 I think is the EEPROM chip (Amtel).

Then get the adapter board (sadly too expensive IMO) so you don't have to unsolder the original PROM, which I did. It's a hassle, and unless you're poor like me, I don't really recommend it. I did it with my TPI too, didn't solder it back in and had no problems, but this time it wouldn't make good enough connections so I had to solder the tuned prom in.

If you have any of the aftermarket big-name chips, they come with that adapter and you just need to pop out their PROM and slap yours in

Even if you do decide to tune, that peice JET's chip comes on, is what you need to do your own. You burn a chip. pop theirs out, and use that housing it came in.

Why would you not have just put the coin toward the moates stuff? Then you pay alvin@pcmforless $60 and he gives you .bins to burn that are for your setup

I didnt really research enough as far as the moates stuff goes. I just bought something generic, that is pre-programed to see if in fact my prom is failing. But, I probably will buy the moates stuff in the future

Im checking out Moates as we speak. Im not all too confident when it comes to computer hardware issues. Im confused as to what I would need to self tune my 93.

yeah.. so no change, although it does have a bit more response with the "jet" chip.
So.. I know an opti can cause a misfire, but... will the car idle to 1800rpm because of a bad opti as well? ( only have about 8,ooo miles on the msd unit.)

Plugs are new ngk's, wires are msd's with 8000 miles, no burns, or freys anywhere.
When scanned, the car is putting up a repeating TPS sensor error, but replaced that early on when diagnosing, and still have the error. The car will run great for 17-20 minutes( timed) and is not dependent on temp, or wether or not it idled for that 20 minutes, or driving wot for 20 minutes. I wanted to completely replace the prom, but was led to believe that was the case with the jet chip, buts it only one of those memory adapters. I still want to completely replace the stock chip, unfortunatly, they're hard to find.

It's not an updater. What the JET does is completely bypass the original, just the original piggybacks so you don't have to desolder it. All it uses from the original is the knock module (not replaceable with the LT4 one).

Check the TPS voltage. Should be .67. I've been running mine @ .54 w/o any problems, but plan to change it to .67 real soon.

Speed: Can you burn a prom for me, or possibly help with adjusting timing? I changed mine just slightly (timing) and I think it might have hurt more than helped. What I DID do, overall, helped a bunch though.
