First, you need to get the car to a point will it will crank over a sufficient number of times so it will start, assuming, of course, that nothing is wrong. Once you reach that point, you can then trouble shoot.
When you first tried to start it, did you hear the fuel pump kick on? Did you give it a moment of running, so it would build up fuel pressure? If it hasn't been started in quite a while, it will take 10-15 seconds for the pump to get the fuel lines up to pressure.
You say, "I just got the battery". Do you mean it's fairly new? If so, just let it charge for a while before you try to start the car again. You might be OK...
