1.6 rockers are a good thing on a stock cam, no idea why robsquickz28 said otherwise, probably just more of the usual ignorant folks trying to get in the way of the few knowledgable folks helping others.

Roller tipped rockers are a complete and total waste. You made the valve contact area smaller but the roller tips don't really roll in use, heck Crane is coming out with highend rockers with a radiused pad tip for greater valvetip contact.

I would sooner put a stock style guided 1.6 on than a roller tip.

because w/ a roller tip the contact surface isn't wearing in one spot, you can't use stock style stamped rockers w/ high pressure springs, most of them aren't long slot so you can't run too much cam w/ them, etc.

for anyone looking to get 1.6 rockers make sure you get SA(self aligning) in a narrow body to clear the posts in the valve cover. its extremely easy to do just make sure you dont over tighten them. For good parts on a budget i suggest look into the comp magnum 1.6's. you can find them for around $150.

Default rockers

True, and true ,if you are running a mild cam 1.6 standard tip rockers are fine, the gain comes from the extra lift, elgin sells these for about $60 bucks.

I put a set of the LT-4s on my '96 Z-28 a few years back. Got them from Scoggin Dickey with the retainers, keepers and seats for about $75-80. I also added a set of hardened (stiffer) Manley pushrods for around another $50, if I remember correctly....

.

MOST if NOT ALL rockers are narrow body. The only set I'm aware of that are wide body are Comp Cam's Pro Magnum Roller Rockers. And it's not a big deal. 5 minutes with a pair of pliers (to straighten out the supports), and they will fit just fine.

They are pricey, but I highly recommend Pro-Mags.
