Most of us don't need a kit per-se, just the certain few parts to make it so an LT1 engine can be read by the LS PCM, and then the connector adapter for the LT harness to LS PCM. Basically 2-3 items. The only real benefits I see for having a full kit would be to interest the swappers. And I think for them, they'd probably just go with a GEN III anyways. This is more for people who already have an LT setup, or are planning on building an extreme engine that would be limited by the LT's PCM.

Even if the opti is kept, I think just having the LS PCM is a nice bit to have.

Thanks, I always thought it was the MAF's fault. Good stuff.

The early LT1 guys would need a new timing cover, crank sensor, vented opti, etc.

I plan on just getting the Megasquirt II Plug and Play kit and being done with the early LT1 PCM. It was like $1,400 last time I checked, which is quite a bit less then a full FAST setup. I understand that is a bit much to spend for little benefit to a street car, but for an early LT1 to convert to an LS1 PCM and coil packs would not be cheap at all anyway.

The opti does not bother me, but the limitations of the stock PCM do...not to mention its a PITA finding someone local good at tuning SD LT1s(Thanks again Jim Smith!). An aftermarket engine management system can be tuned by just about any performance shop with a dyno and some experience.

The LS1 conversion is a novel setup no doubt, but I do not think it is worth it for the 92-94 guys.

Why would you need a vented opti, when you're ditching the opti? Wouldn't even need the timing cover unless you wanted to have it more integrated. You can easily fab a reluctor wheel and bolt it to the hub and fab a bracket for the sensor. That's what Brian Esser did when he used the Ford EDIS system on his LT1.

(Huge write up on the Ford EDIS http://projectlt10.com/edis.html)

One bit I liked was the guy using the crab cap distributor, since I had mentioned doing just that before, but was completely shot down on the idea

The LT1/LS1 MAF's are the same thing as far as I know.. all you guys think they are different. I'm running a Z06 MAF, that's different..

EFI Connection is still working on this. Last week we had our gen1 SBC driven 300 miles round trip to be tuned on a Dynojet. RamJet 350, electronic throttle, coil per cylinder, LS1 PCM.

The results were smooth hp/tq curves. No ignition problems. Here are the numbers.

Latest Progress

Thats a pretty good looking curve. I bet that'd be pretty fun in that little truck. I've always wanted an s10 with a v8

A lightweight truck with that much power has always scared me. There is a 93 GMC Typhoon sitting under the truck on a 95 S10 frame. That took care of the traction problems.

A 4L60E resolved the frustrating shift points of the 700R4.

Typhoon or Cyclone..

Both are AWD, right?
