Larger oil filter
There's the slight benefit of cooling, as you have more oil in the system, and it's flowing through the lifter longer, pulling off a bit more heat.
However, in the case of the later Z-28s with the LT-1 engine, the oil filter is about 1 inch from the cat converter, so while heat extraction would normally be a plus, in this case, it's minimized.
BTW, which "large" oil filter are you referring to? The "standard" large filter (PF-35) that holds 1 qt., or the 2 quart, "HD truck" filter?
