I'm kinda at a loss...not really a street car anymore but I don't consider it hardcore with a 355, stock crank and no aftermarket heads. I guess maybe a fast #7 or a slow #8

Well, I'm probably at a 6 right now per your description but heading into the #7 over the winter if I can get the funds to do so.

My car falls into the Stock or bolt ons area.

...Well until I start it and all hell breaks loose.

I have religated it to a Street legal Race car of late. The car is fully street legal and NHRA legal to 8.50. Damn thing only runs high tens N/A though

i still consider mine aggressive. 20 mpg on the highway is how i deem it to still be a street car, plus it still has a Panasonic DVD headunit, wipers, cigarette lighter still works. plus i won a true street class i sponsored a few weeks ago, drove almost 100 miles to the track to race, in street trim it way almost 3700 #.

mods deem it hardcore, but it is built for the street.

I voted for running witht he bog dogs, but that is some time down the road. My car is being slowly converterd to race only and once I get the chassis done and certified, I will start dealing with the power plant. But for now I am just seeing how fast I can go on the cheap... Playing with bolt-ons right now, then next on the list is a mild H/C setup until I get everything ready to run real fast, hope to have it in the 8's N/A some day but that is a long time and a lot of money from now...

Taner, just so you know your insane MPH with a splayed main LT1 block comforts me at night when I stare up at the ceiling in bed wondering if "that last pass" somehow shifted my main caps...

Then I slowly drift off to comfortable sleep knowing that I have a ways to go before I split my block in half...

Taner other than the clutch explosion have you ever had a REALLY nasty internal mechanical failure with the nitrous motors that you have run in the past few years? I don't know if you keep it under wraps but I don't think I've ever heard of you really hurting something.... Jesus himself either tunes your kit, or builds your motors...

i have the worlds greatest engine builder, lol!!! i mean he builds 632 ci. big blocks for a living, and is **** as hell! just don't tell him i said that, ha ha!

as well, tuneups kill motors not hp, things don't move around unless the motor isn't happy. bad tuneups splits blocks. detonation is not your friend, lmmfao!!! just ask Dr. Detonator (inside joke)

i have not had any sort of catastrophic failures with my stuff. other than tweaking a ringland (and i do mean tweaking by a couple of thou.) keep in mind you can be rich many times but lean only once.

as far as tuneups on the bottle, it has been a learning curve from day one, i first trusted the folks at Agostino racing engines to guide me, after seeing a friend grenade his **** 2 times, and then me lifting a ringland after following THEIR tuneup to the flippin' letter, i decided that i needed to start asking the right people on basics to running a pro shot fogger. since then it has been a positive learning curve!

i went 9.3 a few weeks ago, on a very softly progressed tuneup at 149 mph. needless to say i was stoked! the track prep was f'n garbage out past 100'. so i had to ease in the nitrous every gear for 0.6 seconds, and i progressed it all the way thru 1st gear to 80%. as well my plugs looked the best i think they ever have after that pass(on the bottle)! as well with help from my engine builder on properly reading plugs, i have learned a ton over the past few years!

my transmission woes and as of late clutch issues have been my most recent nagging problems. the mcleod in the car is working great! trans is great! motor is great, and come sunday we'll see if the driver is just so so

^Every time I see your name in a magazine it seems to be followed by another doomed clutch.

Sweet.... Yeah both of us seem to have very good engine builders... My guy just got done with a 632 for a Nova and he's doing a 700+ CI motor for an offshore racing boat.... He's probably the best machinist in Solano County... he definitely knows his ****.... Although it wasn't cheap he was constantly telling me to not cheap out on good parts. I have alot of overkill parts in my motor... My pushrods are GIGANTIC, offset lifters, he swapped out all the retainers that come with AFR heads and put titanium retainers designed for the springs I had so there is no play. He blueprinted my oil pump and machined anti cavitation grooves in it. Stuff that people don't usually do or tell you about......

So are you shutting the car down as soon as you cross the finish line and towing it back to the pits???? I assume since you are pulling all your plugs and reading them.....

no, i do shut it down, then make the bend and grab my custom plug wrench, gloves and heat sleeve for my forearms and get cracking. takes about 20 minutes with the motor hot to yank all 8 and pop in a different set of plugs.

overkill is good if you can bite the bullet and spend the money the first time! it saves you in the end i am sure of it.
