he is going to want to run more than just nos to make that...small blocks need a turbo or supercharger to run 800hp most of the time...he would be pushing it if he didnt have a power adder of some sort besides nos

what heads? hopefully you say AFRs
solid roller,hopefully!
fuel system?
FAST system?
you will need to have 7400 rpm capability,396 solid roller, fuel management,FAST system is a good start just ask Taner his combo is in the neighborhood you are talking about.

Does he want 800 RWHP or 800 flywheel? That'll make a big difference.

A) Aggressive Solid Roller and lots of RPM on a meticulously assembled bottom end.
B) Big Forced Induction on a low-compression bottom end.
C) Strong bottom end with a good head/cam combo + muti-stage or progressive N20.
^ Doable, but you'll end up running race gas an pulling a lot of timing.

Pick one. Either way, it ain't gonna be cheap or terribly street-friendly.
It doesn't HAVE to be a 396, it just has to be build properly.
Theoretically, you could do it with a 355 if you really wanted to.
Just need to handle some serious RPM and cylinder pressure.

Hers is the EASY route to 800 hp.

The engine you described above, 8.5 to 1 compression. Nice hydraulic roller.

91mm turbo

Meth injection.

BINGO 800 hp, could very well make 800 at the wheels with the right fuel and turbo. It's been done.

If you want to go the nitrous route.....

Sam engine as above, 11 to 1 compression

nice solid roller

Super Vic conversion with a direct port fogger OR a multi stage plate system OR a plate and a fogger.

DO NOT try this nitrous route with a stock intake, the stock intake has distribution problems.

The Nitrous combo should make 500+ at the flywheel on motor with LE3 or Ai 200cc heads

With Hellfire rings, good pistons and good nitrous management the skys the limit.....look at the guy up in Denver in this section with the white car that has orange stripes, Stroked30th...he is running 9.0's in DENVER! Granted this is a race setup....but shows the possibilities.

Should he stay with the LE heads and get a solid roller cam?or get some Afr heads?

91mm is HUGE for 800rwhp...you could do an 80 and have much better spooling..

for that motor it might make 440..475 through a stick
then add up the nitrous 320 to make 800....once your voer 300 it starts getting very maticulous on the tune to keep it alive...

me id save the money...do a stock crank eagle rods and diamond pistons...some le2 or 3's le ported intake to match and a 80mm turbo...easily make your goals much more reliable and less maintenance....just might cost a lil more

Depends his goal. he is gonna need nitrous or forced induction to get 750rwhp.

If he wants FI, then he should get AFr or TFS heads to help lower the compression then go with a T76 turbo setup or a YSI/F1 blower.

If he wants juice, then a serious set of AI or LE ported stock casting and a 300 shot of nitrous could get him close.

96lt1m6 hit it on the head. i would reccomend a solid roller.

then a healthy pump gas 396 can make over 500 at the wheels. then properly tuning nitrous you can make 800 to the wheels with a fogger on top! my 3600 # slug has gone 9.0 and traps mid 150's ! and yes i do street drive mine with no issues whatsoever. i recently sponsored a true street class, we drove over 100 miles, part highway, part county and city roads to the track, full exhaust and air filter and all, race weight of over 3700 #'s busted off a 10.1 @ 138mph on a small shot. track was ****, i really wanted a 9 second slip after driving it all that way! lol!!!

If this build is for even a minimal amount of street driving I would definately go forced induction...to get those types of numbers without would require an insane solid roller cam

i would not say "INSANE" by any means, there are many guys with HR cams with 600+ lift.

what it boils down to is this when you decide it is time to go FAST you gotta ditch the HR and man up and get a SR. now you are playing with HP at a higher RPM and that my friend is where HR cams begin to fall short.

also the comment about the LT1 intake not being good for a big shot of dope due to the distribution a direct port system(8) nozzles will do the trick......

well what ever you would like to call it, it will be harsh on the valvetrain and a pain to keep valves adjusted especially if driven on the street, if it provides 800 rwhp

Twin Turbo....I think INTMD8 made 850 rwhp and drove it on the street all the time...It's doable but everything costs coin.
