If you're not going to bolt up slicks or drag radials, an LS7 clutch and flywheel will be fine around 400-450. If you need something to last under the duress of hard launches as you see at the dragstrip, or you are going to spray it, don't go with the LS7.

Its not a popular opinion but the centerforce 12 inch DF clutch works good for me, but the best thing was the customer service. Spot on! A few guys here, including myself, run their centerforce clutch hard and love them.

I'm running Centerforce DFX , over 500 RWHP, lots and lots of passes at the track still works as good as the day I installed it.

+1+ on LS7 if not using slicks. Talk to Jesse at SDPC, he will take good care of you.

why not put a clutch in that gives you room to grow?

for the cost and hassle of swapping clutches...i would never put one in that would barely hold the power i'm currently making.

building it stronger than needed is a good way to overengineer things.

particularly with something as important as the clutch. if that doesn't hold power...you don't go very far very fast.

just my $.02

spec 4 here....little touchy with my light weight flywheel but i'm happy with it. only real complaint is that it has started to squeal while slipping it (parking lots) particularly when cold.

we are using a spec stage 3+ with no problems and it feels like stock, repeated back to back 5k launches at the track on slicks, never slipped a bit

For 440rwhp, I would recommend a Diamond Stage 3 clutch kit. They are on special for $670 shipped. Includes a new 25lb billet steel flywheel, cera-metallic 6-puck disc, and HD 12in pressure plate. I have been selling these for the last 1.5yrs with nothing but good results. Here is a link so you can see some feedback on my clutches.

I'd be glad to help you out. Thanks!

I think if Steve (Monster Clutch) chimes in,he would recommend their Level 3 clutch.I have the Level5 Monster Clutch,so far it is a Kick *** unit.I had the Centerforce Dual Friction and it was toast after one season of street driving(2-3 track passes)!

Default New Clutch

If you are still looking for a great new clutch, check out our CK-4173-1 kit. Strong enough for 500 horse and still as smooth to drive as stock add one of our forged steel flywheels and you will be set.
Thanks

Greetings,

I might be in the market for a new clutch kit as my 1000 mile
Spec-01 is starting to slip in 6th gear.

If I have to remove that tranny again, I'm going with something else.

I was checking your website out.

Why not post you website link on here ?

Pricey? At the end of the day I think you get a lot for that. I caught mine during the holiday sale, and after all the other stuff that they include, i.e. flywheel, T/O bearing, slave, pilot bearing... Its actually a pretty good deal. Not to mention that the clutch that I purchased will hold 700rwhp (level III). Their customer service is OUTSTANDING! I've never installed a clutch, and I've called them twice now just to verify stupid things (like cotton fibers left on the PP from the rag I used to wipe the shipping oil off with) and they were more than happy to answer my questions, AND offered to answer them late into the night as they were most likely going to be at the shop all night. Warranty is nice too.

Do like I did, make an excel sheet and compare the cost of the clutches/components that you'll need. I think you'll find that all the OTHER parts that you may or may not need to buy will make the choice easier. Individual parts seem to get the LS1 tax. When you see ALL your options laid out, then say "well, while that clutch kit is $X more, it will hold 300hp more than these other clutches. When you are driving on a new clutch too, or when your rich uncle dies and now you can get the 500mm turbo kit that you've always dreamed of, then you'll say... $200 more and my clutch WOULD have held that.
