Is your shifter pretty tight? Like trying to get into reverse? just moving it around? just curious as mine is pretty tight. but its a stock gm t56 that they sell.

?? U list an A4 on your car.

But besides that, explain tight.. If you have an M6 most people complain about "notchy" shifting, meaning if you do a high RPM shift into 2nd it feels like something hangs up before it 'clicks' into gear.
Hard reverse along with the notchy shifting means a few things.

Your hydrolics may be in question. They offer a new updated master and slave for the T-56. Along with a drill mod on the new master.

Some people get the $300 McCloud master but some are faulty and most people have a nightmare bleeding it. And it might not ever be the problem.

Read up on the drill mod here -> http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/ho...021/index.html

A new master from GMpartsdirect.com is $116.88 and part# 12570277
If this helps then that's good for you. Notchy shifting could also mean you wore a groove into the aluminum fork and nothing short of replacing that will fix that.

A d&d tranny is a enigma in some cases. They do rebuild the transmission but don't replace the slider keys. It's built up to handle more power/abuse not built for smoother action.

i gotta change my sig. I just swapped to the M6. I have the 01-02 slave with a stock 02 m/c. I guess it could be called notchy like you say. But the main tight feelings it like the amount of force it actually takes to move it into R. like pushing it over then up. goes in R fine. just gettin there is tight.

I heard somthing about a "pin" inside under the shifter or something? i didnt see anything when i put it in but i really wasnt looing for it either.

Is it only reverse? Is the lockout solenoid releasing? Its hard to get into reverse when its trying to blockout reverse and since you said you have a retrofit 6spd, it may not be wired correctly.

yeah, i'd check to make sure the lock out soleniod is working properly. i used a retrofit tranny in my 95 z and it wasn't working correctly. it would make it tough to push over to get into reverse. sounds like what may be happening to you.

Jason, the D&D's are tighter than the usual factory T56. I know what you mean by tight.

I was going to pull my t56 and send it to D&D this winter for upgrades and a rebuild. My 2nd gear hangs up every now and then on a downshift, like if you are downshifting while slowing down. I think its a blocker or slider assembly.

Does anyone have the link to their (D&D's) site? I can't seem to find it.

I am thinking of sending off my T56 to them when I pull the engine/tranny out to rebuild the motor.
