Default MGW Fbody shifter!!

MGW makes VERY quality stuff and just got into the Fbody world recently. They are known for their Mustang shifters. Im gonna go install it as soon as I get done posting this and compare it to my stock Hurst shifter.

This stuff is packaged INSANELY good.

It literally comes with EVERYTHING you need. Thats what I call awesome.

Hurst old school black 6 speed ****.

I just ordered one today so it should be in by the end of the week. Let me know how it goes and if you run into any snags.

Stock Hurst in N

MGW with Hurst **** in N, clearly shorter.

In first

In Reverse

With the 6spd ****. Which do yall like better?

My take so far is that its AMAZINGLY better than the stock shifter. They are crisp and precise and you really know what gear you are in. Im gonna take it out for a drive later on tonight to give it a good work through.

Went in really easy. Hardest part was getting the console back on because I have an Ipod interface in the car and it was getting in the way.

EDIT:

Well just got back from taking the car out and its seriously night and day from the stock Hurst shifter. There is a tiny bit more effort to get the car into the gears but its more of a precise type of effort I guess. It makes the shifts more precise and there is no guessing as to what gear you are going into. A 1-4 run really made this shifter shine. You can just "throw" it into the next gear and itll go into it.

If you are on the fence about ordering this shifter, just get it. You WILL NOT be disappointed at all.

Youtube review for the people that want to watch it in action.

Ive had one for about 3 months no problems at all. Before I would miss 2-3 at WOT sometimes. Never have since having this thing. If you haven't already noticed the centering spring on this thing is rock solid. You don't even have to think for third. Basically push up with your palm and let it do its thing. No more missed shifts ever!

It was like a primer puddy thing. I guess it was to cover something. It was hard.

I totally AGREE. I would let my wife go WOT with this shifter now. Joking on that one there.

I only ask because this is what mine looks like:

I think that area hangs over a bit from the mounting flange, and might be the cause of an odd transmission leak I've had lately.

Hmmmm that is really weird. Id call and ask about that. Ive got to pull my console again tomorrow because I didnt reinstall the #6 boot and its way too noisy for me so Ill check mine again.

Search the net for MGW Ltd and youll find their site. You need to call them up and ask them about it because they dont have it on their site yet.

I have this as well but have yet to install.

This could be the next Pro 5.0!

Mine looks like Meent's. But I also got mine around the same time he did. You got your's fairly recently which may have been a revision. I don't see how the earlier version could leak. I didn't think there was even any oil around the shifter linkage area.

Yea, there is oil in there when the car is going. I got fluid on me when I changed my shifter which is why they include the RTV so you can get a good seal on it.

Ohhh yeah that's right. I remember scraping RTV off that area when I took the factory Hurst short shifter off.

You HAVE to go to MGW site, get their number and give them a call to order it. They WILL not allow anybody to be a dealer for their shifter. You have to talk directly to them to get it. Id say over all its about 2.5" to 3" shorter than the stock Hurst shifter.

Pitbull Im nto sure if anybody has switched from a Pro 5.0 or someone who has the Pro has driven a car with a MGW but I dont doubt someone will soon. I think MeentSS went from a B&M to the MGW and a couple other guys have changed as well.

I 'll have to find someone with one of these to try out. I just can't imagine how anything could be better then a properly setup Pro 5.0.
