it looks like im going to be changing out a clutch since i destroyed my stock one the other day. my question is since i have a lift, would it be any easier on me to remove the motor/trans or just the trans?

Why would you remove the whole motor and trans just for a clutch swap? In order to change the clutch you're gonna still have to unbolt the bellhousing from the engine.....
Taking both out seems like its more trouble than its worth.

thanks for everyones input. i just know its not too involved to pull the motor/trans with a lift. my friends m/t was pulled in 3 hours with both of us on it. i just figured it would`nt be much more to seperate them from a cart on the ground.

If its not much to separate it on the ground; why wouldn't it be not much when its on car? The number of bolts connecting the bell housing to the engine won't magically change once they're off the car. Removing the engine just adds needless work.

peice of cake. pulled in the garage and 4 hours later pulled back out with a new clutch in. Thats on jack stands and only having help to man handle the trans around. Done it a time or two but you shouldnt have any trouble. Plenty of write ups on here if you need help

I did it on jack stands.. (a friend did alot of it but because I Was in a wedding but anyway) If we had all the tools (clutch alignment tool being the big one, and a blind hole puller) afrom the start we could of done it soo much faster. Technically though its not that difficult.
Just unbolt the tranny and go.

Definitely just remove the trans.
It makes it easier to remove the trans from the bellhousing first, then the bellhousing alone. It can be done as a whole unit though if desired.
