Default bleeder question

my 99 SS has been at the shop a few weeks now ,and they cant bleed the clutch fluid ,they are bleeding it with the master in the car ,i was reading in here and saw that it cant be bled while its in the car .. but then saw that the easyest way to bleed it is by buying a mighty vac , will it work if i hav a new master and slave in? should i buy a mighty vac and take it to the shop and say "here use this" ?

Sounds like you need to find another shop. It is better to bench bleed the m/c first, but it can be done in the car. The Mighty Vac way is one way to do it, but it's not the only way.

Here's one writeup http://performanceworks1.com/ls1_clutch_bleeding.htm , pretty simple. Just don't overdue the vacuum or you might damage the seals in the m/c.

The motive power bleeder works well to flush the old fluid out by while simultaneously replacing it with new fluid. Maybe your shop should invest in one of those...

I would most definately never go back.... never seen a m/c that wouldn't bleed in the car. Stock or aftermarket. I've even bled 120,000 mile m/c that were beat up and had no problems. If your gonna do it yourself pick up one of the Tick bleeder lines... great pieces and are worth its weight in gold..... you won't regret it.

You can get the bleeder here http://www.tick-performance.com/tick...ulics/#bleeder . The problem though is to install it on the slave you have to remove the tranny.

I didn't even know the remote bleeders existed when I replaced my clutch and slave but you can bet when I swap clutches again or drop the tranny for any reason that I will have one of those ready to install. They're just a whole lot easier to get to and not nearly as messy as bleeding from the stock slave cylinder bleeder location.

Same here. I wish I would have installed one when I replaced my clutch too. Here's an interesting thread. ssgunny made up his own bleeder and found a way to install it wiithout pulling the tranny. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ferrerid=13535 . I am going to go this route soon.

^^Does that method work with a regular (Tick) remote bleeder or does it require making your own bleeder like ssgunny did? If I can cut a hole and install a $50 remote bleeder I will do that now as opposed to dropping the tranny. My clutch is sticking right now as it is so I want to give bleeding the fluid and replacing it with high temp racing brake fluid a try.

I actually bought the Tick bleeder not knowing the fittings size because Tick never responded when I asked them the size. Found out they are -3 AN and not -4 AN like ssgunny built. You can buy all the -3 AN adapters and make it work with the premade Tick bleeder. You won't be using their special slave adapter and washer though because you will still have to weld a male -3 AN fitting on the stock bleeder and modify it like ssgunny did. Not sure how hard it would be to replace the bleeder without cutting the hole in floorboard. Seems like a waste to cut the hole if it's not needed to bleed.

OR you can get a FREE bleeder from Tick....all you have to do is buy an adjustable MC from Tick before teh end of the month, and you get a FREE bleeder (as long as they sale 50 before th e month is up)

OK, that was my way of saying, "I bought a MC, and we need a few more guys to buy one so we can hit 50 before the end of the month, so I can get teh free bleeder"

Also, guys, you MIGHT want to think that their is something WRONG with his MC, and that is why it will not bleed I amjust saying, as we do not know everything....I mean, why is the car in there in the first place? Maybe he had a soft pedal?

So, WHY is your car there, and WHY are they having to bleed your MC? That is the first thing I would ask.

I have a reservoir, master cylinder and that braided line here. Taken off at about 65K. $50 bucks shipped for everything. You probably want to do the drill mod while it is out before installing it, would make sense. What is wrong with your braided line?
