Default Twisted splines on my Viper shaft

I was doing a little work or the car and went to pull the drive shaft out but it would not "slip" forward into the transmission. Finally got it out and found that the splines in the slip yolk have twisted. How comon is this? Do I need to worry about it continuing to twist?

Probably need to stop being lazy and put that viper input shaft in!

You twisted a viper output shaft? What does a viper input shaft have to do with it?
Is it a spicer viper yoke?

I have not seen this with the Viper yokes but its pretty common with the F body yokes in higher powered cars . It can and will cause issues by binding the rear bushing in the housing and causing it to spin out and possibly ruin the tail housing .

I just brought up the input shaft because I still have the stock one in place and figured it would be the first sign of trouble. Yes it is a spicer viper yolk that I twisted... I have not inpected the main shaft yet...will do that when I install the input shaft.

Thank you. I'm starting to see why everybody goes auto. I'm tearing up quality parts left and right!

Yep this happened to me I had to buy a new extension housing and a forged slip yoke. I think I will be good now. The splines on the slip yoke will twist before the output shaft splines do.

I would not think your car is making enough power to twist the Viper yoke unless its super heavy.

You would not believe the stuff this car has torn up that much faster cars have not! It isn't that heavy.

Where do I find this "forged slip yolk"?

You need a clutch that doesn't hit as hard.

You would think a full slick would have enough flex to cushion the driveline, but I guess it is only to an extent.
