Throw out bearing
#7
There's no such thing as a throwout bearing (in the traditional sense). It's all integrated in to the slave cylinder as a unit.
I've seen one that came apart. Made a grinding noise. Bad. Car was shaking. The owner parked it (wisely) and dragged the car home. The roller bearings had self destructed.
They're not terribly difficult to replace yourself. Don't even have to pull the bellhousing, just the driveshaft, torque arm, Y-pipe, shifter, then tranny. It's about a 3 hour round trip on jackstands. Then just bleed the slave and you're all set.

I thought my Throwout bearing had gone out a while back but when i got the clutch replaced it was the pilot bearing that went bad. The throwout bearing comes with the slave and I also got one with my Spec Stg 3
