Default Do you like your shifter angled towards you?

So here's the deal. I've had a WS6store 6" stick on my factory Hurst since Oct. 2005. Always liked it and never had a problem with it. Well, a few months ago when UMI was having their 20% promo I order some suspension and for ***** and giggle a UMI Short Stick, which is angled. I busted the TA out of storage today and took it for a spin. When I got back decided to put the UMI piece on. I don't know if I need to give some time to get used to but it felt really weird. Like shifting into 4th felt like I was going to go into 2nd. Not looking to pull a 1-2-3-2 shift anytime soon.

Which do you prefer? Should I give it more time? Have any of you with angled sticks had problems finding gears?

i was in the same boat as you. i started out with a ws6 store shift stick and thought if my stick was angled just a bit, it would feel alot more comfortable in my hand.

let me just say that the UMI Short stick only went around the block before i went back to the ws6 store short stick.

umi short stick is too angled in my opinion (30*)

I got a Lou's short stick when I put my pro 5.0 in. First time I took it out with the new stick I did pull a 1-2-3-2 and it scared the hell out of me. But now that I am used to it I absolutely love it!

See, that's the kind of **** I was worried about. I was being extra careful not to pull that, but it kind of took the fun away ripping through the gears in fear of doing that. I may give it another chance, but my gut feeling is telling me to put the straight stick back on.

Angled is much better for me. The lou's stick is not angled that much at all.

Regardless of whichone you choose (angled or straight), you will get used to it.

Im tall, and sit pretty far back in my seat. So to avoid having to extend my arm all the way for the 1,3,5 gears, I bent my Pro 5.0 back and over some. So far it made it more comfortable, but Im going to try to bend it back more.

I didnt really notice much in the way of shift feel. Didnt cause me to miss gears or anything. Im still pushing the stick straight forward and pulling straight back for 3rd and 4th gears...

I voted for angled, but I only like a slight angle. 30* would be way too much I think.

Hurst Billet Plus here with the Lou's Short Stick for the Billet plus.
(angles back and towards the driver)
I love it and rarely have shifting issues
As far as worrying about missing a gear (be honest we've all done it) try not to over think it because thats when your most likely to make the mistake.
Just relax and drive because you will get used to it.

Just last night I installed the pro 5.0 with a lous short stick. Man at first I was not liking it at all... but now just a day later I really like it. I have absolutely no problems shifting, so Idk why ur worried about the 1-2-3-2... Going to 4th is real easy.... but maybe thats just me. Give it some time you will get used to it. If not try a less angled stick, maybe a LSS, though I am not sure if the UMI one is more angled or not.

Yeah, the UMI has a pretty steep angle. I mean, it looks great, but the angle seems weird. Like "pulling straight back" to get into 2nd with the shifter **** at such a weird angle, is well, weird. LOL. I'm used to the old short stick and **** being straight up, so the placement of my hand on the new one is odd. I'm going to give it a little more seat time before I take it off.

Dude I feel ya. Like I said I just installed mine yesterday... it really is a wierd feeling going from a straight handle to it being angled. But idk I am starting to like it and fast. Just give it some time, get used to it. If you still hate it then switch it out.
