Centerforce DFX failure after 2.5K and 11 months.
My Centerforce DFX 11" clutch took a "dump" Drove great one minute, the next it was slipping, releasing high up, and soft pedal. Took it apart and found that the counterweight system on the pressure plate failed, causing some of the pressure plate to be engaged and some of it not. Called Centerforce and they said its 8 months out of warranty but since its a failure and not worn to send pics and they may send me a new clutch set-up.

(I know this post is old sorry) This just happened to mine yesterday! I am going to call centerforce tomorrow. God I hope they can help me out, I am and year and a half out of warrenty but I only have 11k miles on mine, it still has plenty of life on it too. The ring that sits on the outside of the weights to hold them from spreading out broke on yours and mine imbedding itself into the PP and not letting the fingers fully expand.

Weird, mine is the same, but has 2 sets of the weights i think, or was it 2 retainers? Hell, anyway, been beating on mine for 10 months, hard core, every time i drive it, no issues, actually, i rebuilt the trans last month and i was WAY surprised there was still so much clutch disc left.
Otherwise, my pressure plate is GOLD not orange for some reason.

Speaking in general, I think it's kinda funny that we understand that factory cannot warrentee stock parts that are used in a manner such as "racing". But then you have aftermarket support that is purpouse built to supposedly handle the increased power, or traction so on and so forth.
Failures do happen but if you get a bad run, it takes a WHILE to go through all the faulty parts, look at companies like Mcleod and their Adj Clutch Master Cyl. At one time was the only alternative to help with clutch engagement, and in the past 2-3 the worst one out there due to having major leaking issues due to a run of miss built parts.
Something to think about.

They offerend me to send it back for repair but with all the metal in the PP I dont think its worth my time, he tole me I could remove my weight as the weights only provide 10% clamping force in the mid-high rpm, so now my 650 TQ clutch is 585. BS

Does anyone happen to know the torque spec on the pressure plate for the centerforce clutches? My flywheel and pressure plate surface look like new 80% of the way around, but there is one hot spot that looks like the only spot that has been engaging for the time I've had it in the car.

Well I removed my weights (they are actually pretty heavy, I would say 1.5-2 lbs worth) with the clutch still in the car and the torque tube backed out about 3 inches (so I did not have to completly remove everything), it was a pain in the *** as 3 of the weights fell down in between the PP and clutch disk, I had to fish them out for a hour with a magnet that I had to break and bend the rod to slide down into the PP fingers and then push the weights up with a screwdriver in the tiny slots in the PP. This thing still better hold my power, I will know tomorrow night...
P.S. He also said my clutch pedal will be a tad softer at high rpm now, that will be nice.

It did not get softer, actually feels the same but I think I need a Tick master now, it shifts fine through all gears at 6500 except for 4th (when shifting hard), if I give it a sec for the syncros to catch up it will go in fine.
