Default Won't line up with poly mounts...

I got it all lined up even made a trans plate to hold up the trans on the floor jack, works great...but I can't get it to line up. The engine is sitting too high and the bellhouse hits the trans tunnel.

The stock mounts would've given me the angle I need but, it seems like my new poly mounts hold the engine up. It seems like I need to drop the K just to get it to line up.

Anyone else have this happen???

I know its a nightmare with solid mounts.... I guess a good set of poly's could do the same...

This is why I ordered my solids AFTER I changed my clutch, didn't want to deal with this. I dunno how you will do it besides undoing the motor mounts if it won't sag enough.

Been thinking about it all night...I'm going to unbolt 2 of the rear kmember bolts. I'll place another jack under the oil pan just for additional support. This may give me the 2-3 inches I need. Wow this sucks!

I've got 20miles on my setup so poly mounts are new.

I'm going to do a writeup on a trans jack. It works perfect!! And it can be done by one man.

Thanks just confirmed what I thought...

Keep the rubber mount. There's no reason to go poly for the trans. (Poly engine mounts, OTOH, are good!)

I have poly engine mounts and mine trans lined up two times without a problem. I use a jack for the trans and once I get it so that it looks like it's lined up good with the bellhousing (ie; parallel mating surfaces), I grab the end of the header collector and rock the engine slightly while pushing the trans toward the bellhousing. Like I said before, worked like a charm both times I installed the trans. Maybe this will work for you also.?

Well I've also got a BMR K and the brand new poly mounts. No rocking of engine, they were stiff. A quick background...built a new 408 with an A4, trans lost 3rd in 20 breakin miles, dropped the a4 and swapping the T56. So everything is tight...there was very little flex in the mount. With the iron Lq9 you'd think there'd be more flex.

Isn't the a4 & m6 Transmission cross-brace/mount different? That may be your problem.

T56 tranny crossmember, tranny mount (can use A4 tranny mount - recommend LS1/1LE tranny mount)

Found here...and referenced in the A4->M6 Thread However, if you already have it, sorry. Disreguard

Sorry that wasn't the issue. I implied the lining up of the input shaft to install the trans...I have a OE crossmember and trans poly mount.
