Default Need help!!! T-56 output shaft seal leaking still

I need someone to please tell me where else the fluid could be leaking from. I replaced the tailshaft seal with an OEM from the dealership. I checked for cracks in the tailshaft and could'nt see any. The trans fluid is still dripping slightly from around the bottom of this seal that I replaced. I am so frustrated and don't know what to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It probably needs a new tailhousing bushing as well.

I replaced mine by taking off the tailshaft extension housing and took it to a shop to press in the new bushing. Easy.....

so all you have to do is take the tailshaft off and the bushing and seal will be in that assembly?

Correct.......you can replace the seal without taking the housing off, but to replace the bushing, you take the housing off and the bushing is in the housing.

The tool to do the bushing w/out disassembling the transmission is very helpful. But, if you can get the tail off and the bushing presses in without issue, go without the tool.

the tail shaft just unbolts from the end of the trans on these cars right? why would i have to disassemble the trans? i was under the impression you could just take the tail shaft off with the trans in the car unless i'm missing something.

I'll restate that.

The tool to do the bushing without removing the tailhousing from the transmission is very helpful. But, if you wish to take the tailhousing off and yours takes a pressed-in bushing without issue, that's cool.
