Default car stuck in 4th

at the track the other day the car got stuck in 4th on a pass. A little banging i got it out and drove good. I got on the highway today and the trans stuck in 4th again only this time it is not coming out. Had to run 3 stop signs to make it to a buddys house. Any ideal what this could be and about how much to fix. I am thinking the selecter arm in the trans.

If the trans has not been upgraded, it came with an aluminum 3/4 shift fork. These are known to wear and cause sticking in 3rd or 4th gear. The iron replacement is what you need.

It's Broke

It needs a tear down and rebuild

Most likely a key stuck in there and no matter how hard you try, it is not moving.

My bet is a key, maybe a shift fork. Upgrade to the steel 3/4 fork once inside. (and billet keys)

The fork wears and then allows the sleeve to over extend. This puts the struts / keys out of position and jamb / eventually break. I t is quite possibel that the struts/ keys are not broken, just jambed. So , yes its a bent fork that is the root of the problem. If you just replace a broken key/ strut, you will not solve the problem.
