Default t56 vs tr6060

Lets say you were going to buy a higher milage C5 (100kish miles) and were going to replace the motor with a LS3 or something. Would you rebuild the t56 or "upgrade" to the tr6060?

so built t56 vs stockish tr6060 keep money in mind of course, but the goal is longevity and the best shifts possible

Thanks

A built T56 with upgraded mainshaft is a damn tough unit.

I agree with thesource, but will also add that the reports coming back so far have been very good on teh 6060. Since you are looking at it froma money point of view, I would go T56 since there are so many parts at good prices available for it.

Not to say that 6 months or year from now I might change my mind, but since you asked today.....

If you arent going to be pushing the limits of a T56 (~800rwtq) Id just stick with the T56. They are great transmissions in stock form. An upgraded unit is even better.

What T56 do you have that'll hold 800 ft lbs of torque?

I've got a buddy with a 402 (LS2) C5 vette that couldn't make his T56 live. He's switched over to the TR6060 and absolutely loves it. I rode with him, and it's crazy how short the shifts are. He said it feels so much better than his T56 ever did. Plus, maybe it'll live behind 700+rwhp.

If you swap out the mainshaft, the C5 Vette unit is pretty stout. I've built several that lived behind high horsepower street cars.

You also have to realize that being in a lighter/heavier car, sticky tires/radials/track/street use, who is driving/how they are driving, etc....ALL can/will determine how much power a tranny can take (among other factors of course)
