Default Clutch help!!!

I put in a Spec Stage 3+ clutch and spec flywheel in January of this year. My car is procharged but otherwise just bolt ons. I replaced the transmission mount when putting the clutch in. But there is still this hitting that feels like a broke tranny mount. I have heard its the torque arm but I really don't know. I have been really easy with the car but now here in the past month or so it almost feels to me like the clutch is losing pressure and also sometimes it makes a whine. I don't ever smell it burning nor is it slipping at all. Can someone please tell me what is going on?!!!! Thanks for your help.

Does this happen when you are releasing the pedal and thus engaging the clutch? If so you may be experiencing chatter, which is normal during break-in. If you have been overly easy on it it may not have broken in fully which would lead to longer duration for chatter. Let me know when this happens and I will be happy to provide more info.

I am not sure why you would think the unit was losing clamp? Is there something else that is happening that would lead you to think this? Let me know. Thanks!

It seems to only do it when like Im on a hill and Ill just ease off the clutch and it will make the whine. Sounds similar to a power steering whine but I can feel it in the clutch. When I had the clutch put in, I felt some chatter initially but went away. I don't think I have been overly easy on it just with that torque arm/transmission mount issue I try not to dog it. Im honestly not sure how to explain the clutch pressure. I don't know if I have just gotten use to the way it feels but sometimes it really just don't feel the same. Im not sure where its supposed to let out but its pretty close to the end.

Because the 3+ uses Carbon-Semi-Metallic disc material it is possible to get some whine especially when you are riding it, as you would when starting off up hill. That sound doesn't worry me. The 3+ should have relatively low pedal effort, within about 10% of the stock assembly. And, if you are like me, the more you drive something the easier the effort feels. If you have a torque arm/Trans mount issue then that could be responsible for some sound as well. Ultimately it doesn't sound like you have a "clutch" issue.

Ok good, thank you for your help. That makes me feel a lot better. I just had before the Spec put a centerforce dual friction and it didn't hold up 5 months. I was having problems with it after 3 months but I about lost my dad in January from congestive heart failure and by the time I got around to messing with centerforce and their warranty it was too late. But the Spec has been in since then and I am much more happy with its performance. Thanks again for your help.

No problem at all...its what I am here for! I can relate to your situation with your dad, I was in the same situation with mine about a year ago. They implanted a pace-maker and he has been rocking and rolling ever since! I hope that your dad can recover from this the way mine did.

Im sorry to hear about your father... glad hes doing better. Unfortunately, my car isn't. Today I was pulling out at a light and I had to get on it from first to second and for the first time I smelt my clutch burning... Now what?

Well, you could have just as easily "rode" the clutch out when taking off from that light, and slipped it enough for it to "smell". Keep an eye on it, and see if it does it again. But just because of 1 time this happening, I would not be concerned at this point (I "smoked" my clutch over a year ago in my truck, and she is still rolling!)
