Default G-Force T56

Any of you guys heard about the new upgrades G-Force is offering for the T56? I was at the PRI show this past weekend and saw one. It's not available yet, but will be early 2004.

They are using a stock case (new or used), and they use the factory overdrive gears and mainshaft while replacing all the other gears and shafts in the transmission. They are saying that it will handle approx. 900+ horsepower and 800 ft-lb. of torque with the optional upgraded mainshaft.

Some of the changes that they have made:
-totally reengineering the gear design and tooth profile, also adding gear width wherever possible

-use proven 9310 alloy for the gears and slightly different alloy for the synchro sleeves and input shaft

-gears 2nd, 3rd, and 4th all have replaceable synchro sleeves and/or gears

-feature helical gearing to maintain a comfortable noise level while still maintaining exceptional strength.

-triple cone synchros-the T56 normally comes with triple cone synchros only on 1st and 2nd gears, but our kit allows for the use of the setup in 3rd and 4th gears as well, greatly enhancing the shifting quickness of these gears (The C5 T56 is the only transmission that comes from the factory this way, now they offer it for the Viper, F-body and Cobra).

This information was taken from the handout that I got from G-Force at the PRI show. I checked their website and they do not have this information on there yet.

While at first it seems like it will be expensive ($2200 for the kit, $475 for a 9310 High Nickel Steel mainshaft or $690 for 4340-300M Thru Hard Premium alloy mainshaft, plus $300 if you want G-Force to install it in your tranny), the cost should come down with time and demand. I see this as being a good alternative to going to a slushbox.

I think the F-body has a double cone 1-2, single on 3-4 and the C5 has triple on 1-2 and double on 3-4. I could be wrong though but either way getting the better syncros on 3-4 will help a LOT.

interesting.... so about 3200. that's not too much less than the price of getting a Jerico 4-speed. but looks like a good alternative.

Small town about 20 miles southwest of Ft. Wayne. Our biggest deal in town is that we have the GM full-size truck plant. It's said to be in Ft. Wayne, but it's only about 4 miles out of our town.

Guessing by your location, you are in Lafayette/Purdue?

Thanks for posting the info you have. I sent them an e-mail a couple of weeks ago and still have not gotten a response. If I hear anything new from them I will be sure to post up.

Any idea if they ever plan to make a straight cut-no synchro-dog bone version? That would hold as much power and torque as we could ever make. Better get polished up on your double clutching though.

I really don't know. It would be nice though! I'm pretty decent at double-clutching, as I drive a semi often for work.

That was one of my questions in my email. I know they make a dog ring t-5 so I would hope that they will do the same for the t-56. Definately a market for it!

I was actually told about three months ago that they were ready..?? Maybe the guy I spoke with was just the janitor or something.

Later,
