McLeod Hits High Gear With Their New Transmission
Nitro funny car drag racer Paul Lee has taken the recently purchased McLeod Industries into the next gear by introducing a new transmission for hot street and street/strip cars. The 5 speed manual transmission is designed to be a direct replacement transmission. Paul told us that they designed it so that, “You don’t have to cut up your car to make it fit. It’s one of the strongest transmissions on the market. We put over a thousand foot pounds of torque through it already, and our initially torque test was positive without any type of damage what-so-ever.”

Wow, cool to have a mcleod rep here.
Anything you can tell me about gearing and synchro style(s)?
I'd heard that you were planning a 2.66 or 2.97 first, but what will the others be? Will it be an o/d trans or will it have a 1:1 fifth?
Will you offer a dog ring version?
Can't wait for this trans to show up!

at this time there are no option on 2nd through 5th gear along with no dog ring. This is intended to be a street transmission, not a race transmission.

lol, racers aren't really the market segment they were going after here. The M800 is mainly aimed at people who want a strong direct replacement OD trans for their older 4spd muscle car. This is a great option for someone that doesn't want to make any modifications, beat in their floor pans, or have to run non-standard or conversion clutch parts to get a tough 5 speed trans in their ride. At just a couple hundred bucks more than a tko 500 and a much higher tq capacity, I think it'll do well if/when it's publicly released. I'd love to yank the m21 muncie in my truck in favor of one of these suckers!!

[QUOTE= Right now were having a problem finding a quality american made gearset that does not cost an arm and a leg. We need a good gearset that is cost effective and keeps the selling point competitive in the market place. Everybody wants oversea's prices with american made quality stamped on it and it can be a very slippery slope.[/QUOTE]
Aint that the truth, I fell into a set of those cheap aluminum square port BBC's heads you see all over ebay to come to find out that when they put the hardened seats in the seats arent very thick, and tend to fall out and destroy your motor. So needless to say I sold them on ebay. I guess they are made in china or some crap pro comp I think is what they are called.

In the process of assembling a mule as we speak. Just got in a new gear set to try out along with a newly revised shifter mechanisim. Hopefully we can get the new mule into our 57 chevy by the first of the week. Were hoping to have these in production and taking sales for opening orders by SEMA. Stay tuned!

The dimensions are the same as a Muncie. With the 55 chevy we have as a test vehicle we had no cross member issues what so ever. If we come into a situation that a requires a change in position we'll consider Mfg them. As a matter of fact we have already been approached by a major suspension Mfg to fabricate and mfg cross members for us.
