I'm using normal Dex III without any issues.

The "paper" ones looked very similar to me. (unless my trans had been rebuilt before?) But I doubt that, I bought the car at 56k miles, at a dealer and no history of rebuilt trans.. Besides, everything else in the T-56 looked stock..
The Paper ones cover the whole Synchro..the CF ones kinda look wavy..that is how all the ones that I have seen looked like.

GM has updated using the Dex III to manual trans fluid #88861800.

I'll see if I can dig up a side by side pic of the carbon fiber and paper blockers.

I've run a few different oils in my T-56 (both my old one and new one), and so far, I've liked the Torco ATF the best out of the ones I've tried. I have regular el-cheapo O'Reilly's Dex III ATF in there now while I was chasing down a leak, and I personally thought it shifted better with the Torco. Maybe that was just my mind telling me that the more expensive Torco just HAD to be better, but I'll be switching back to the Torco after my next clutch swap in the spring.

Same info also found here:

As you can see, Dex VI should NOT be used. I use Mobil 1 ATF in my Six Speeds Inc T56 because that's what they recommended.

Thanks for the pics guys..

Yes there is a difference, but still they look pretty similar (In comparison to other transmissions that have brass blocker rings!)

But thanks for the clarification..

FYI

The T56 holds 4qts of fluid. ATF Dextron/Mercon III, IV is a revision and is compatible.
"Until the mid-2006 model year, all six-speeds will be produced filled with DEXRON III fluid, although the transmission has been validated for used with new DEXRONŽ VI. In mid-2006, the six-speeds will come filled with DEXRONŽ VI, which was developed to behave more consistently during temperature and other environmental variations, as well as to provide even lubrication of the moving surfaces of the transmission."
