Default LS7 Clutch?

Hey guys, I have an 00 t/a M6, has 80k miles, just sent it off to the shop for: Texas Speed's Torquer2 cam, Qtp Lt headers, 80mm intake & tb, 410 gears. Thinking I'm going to be in need of a new clutch soon, hoping to not break the bank much more than I already have. Ls7 Clutches seem to be popular, will it work well for me? What is the differences over stock ls1? thanks in advanced.

How often do you plan on beating on the car?

I've had two LS7 clutch setups in two different cars and never had a single problem out of them. One was a head, cam, nitrous car and the other is my current daily driver

Well if your going to beat on it alot if I was you I would be looking into the Monster Clutches Maybe a Stage 3 that one is pretty popular and they say those monster clutches can take a beating and still keep going so you may want to look into that.

I guess my main thing right now is im in my bank deeper than i planned for the build, I def cant afford an expensive clutch. The ls7 clutches seem to be a better price, but want to see how benifical it would be. Im guessing I will be somewhere in the 400-420whp range, dont know how long my ls1 clutch will hold that.

ls7 clutch needs the ls2 flywheel. When I bought mine the best deal was thru ScogginDickey ------------> sponsor to the right

I had clutch pedal sticking to floor with my stock ls6 clutch. Did the drill mod and still had issues but, got a lil better. I went with the ls7 clutch and no problems whatsoever. Hell last time out made 3 straight passes and clutch held up like it was the first

Thanks for all the advise guys. As soon as I sell some of my stock parts I'm going to hopefully grab a used low milage ls7 clutch. Moneys tight between the engine build, dyno & shocks, but I cant wait to see the results!!

What rpm do you launch at? I'd personally go with a spec stage 1 super single for $270 before an ls7 setup, if nothing else because it's lighter

Is this why my ls7 clutch didn't last to long? i thought it was bc I was putting out to much tq for it. Everytime i get on it the clutch just stays to the floor and i have to pump it a dozen times just to get some feel back in it.

I was doing some research on this recently, you would have to search to find it but i found a great write-up about the ls7 clutch, apperently they like to stick to the floor because of a restrictor valve and they don't like higher rpm launches. For a daily driver with good power i've heard they are good clutches.

This is my opinion based off of what i've read while searching this forum, i cannot stand behind any of this due to the fact i have no experience with it.

WS6 Store sells them for a decent price too.

Me personally I wouldn't go with a ****..I mean Spec Clutch.

That's the way it usually goes..always plan about double of what you price to invest into your build..just to give that extra buffer room..

I launch the car at 6200 and just slip the clutch no problems I have the shim mod on my slave cylinder and my clutch peddle nver gets stuck to the floor. I am going to upgrade when this clutch goes out tho mybe a monster stage 4 only because I want something more aggresive for the track to cut lower 60' right now im cutting 1.58-1.55 hoping for 1.49 with stronger clutch

Thumbs up

A friend of mine has a H/C C5 with the LS7 clutch kit and he loves it. I just ordered the same kit for my C5Z06. I ordered through Scoggin-Dickey.
