How much of a difference is there?
I was just wondering how much of a difference is there in the factory Hurst shifter and an aftermarket shorth throw shifter. I want to make sure there is a significantly noticable difference in not just throw, but the feel of the shifter as well. Also, what brand would be best for a daily driver that isn't racing at all? I'm kind of torn between MGW, Hurst, and Pro 5.0, although I think I'm leaning towards MGW.

From my experience I've driven cars with a stock shifter, hurst, and short throw. I gotta tell ya I really don't feel a big difference. The biggest difference I notice is the actual shift stick itself. Like how short it is, what angle it's at. Also makes a big difference in how well the hydrualic system in the car is working. You could drive a car with a stock shifter that has good working hydrualics that shifts like butter. And then drive a car with worn out hyraulics that has a 5.0 shifter and shirt stick and it could feel notchy and seem under par.

Ya, I played with a friends Pro 5.0 and it didn't feel too much shorter (if at all). That's why I thought I'd ask if there is a difference in maybe other brands. Also I thought I'd ask which brand to get because I've read that Pro 5.0 is really good, and if that's the case I wouldn't spend the money on a short throw after using my friends.

I went from a factory hurst to a mgw, night and day.
A good shifter is worth it, if u miss a shift because of a
Crappy shifter, u can bend ur pushrods. I also had the pro 5
Didn't really like it.

Well, exactly. You get a lot of guys pushing short throw shifters on newbies but most people don't even have trouble with missed shifts. I race quite a bit and have had my car for over a year, I've never missed a shift. I just have the stock hurst shifter with a short stick. Not really a need to upgrade my shifter.

I'm not missing shifts, partially cause I'm not racing. I just don't really like the feel of my stock Hurst, it feels kind of jerky or notchy or something not smooth. A shorter throw and stick combo would be nice too
