Drives nicer once broken in. i drive my car seven days a week. but i know what you mean when you say first gear can be tough. im guessin it was with me because im cammed and on 3.42 gears

I'm at about 200 miles and its starting to smooth out. Chatters a bit if you try to engage it around 1000, bump it to 1500 and you're usually pretty good.

I had a Spec 3 x-pad back in the day that chattered no matter what, even after break-in. Then I had a Textralia that virtually never chattered after the first 50 miles.

Don't install the dowel pin's that come with it. New GM flywheel bolts. Put a new tail shaft seal in the trans when it is out.

300 Miles on it now and it does not chatter as bad. Just a small amount when taking off now. I honestly think it caused my tail shaft seal to leak cause the chatter was so bad when it was first installed.

They were a huge PITA to beat in. I did mine after my flywheel was bolted up though. In my case.. I had to remove the dowel pins. Which meant removing the flywheel and getting new GM bolts. I installed it again without dowel pins and it was more easy then just pounding in 1 dowel pin. It's just personal preference. Works the same either way.

It will surely be a very smooth clutch after 500 miles, and most likely sooner.
If there's air in the system it'll be harder to properly modulate the pedal. Chattering is often brought on or exaggerated by riding the clutch too much. The thought was that if he had air in the system which caused the clutch to grab more aggressively due to the hydraulics not working properly, he may be trying to ride the clutch to compensate and causing chatter. I install monster clutches all the time and get very minimal chatter if any. The keys are keeping everything clean during install and driving the car properly. The only times I notice any chatter is if I ride the clutch a little too long but then I let it out, the clutch grabs all the way and the chatter is gone.

I did the install and had my hydaulic system purged and added some Wilwood high temp fluid. Chatter is a minimum. 1st Gear is a bit rough, but I only have 35 miles on it. What are the rules for a proper break-in period?

my break in instructions for the stage 3 called for 500 miles of as much stop-and-go traffic as possible before beating on it

I've got 1600+ miles on mine and I still have some chatter in 1st. Followed instructions to a T as well. I have bleed the crap out of the hydraulics. I think trying to slip it will cause it to chatter. If I let the clutch out quicker with a higher rev, chatter is minimal. My cam with 3.42s cannot be helping the situation.
