Default Monster clutch guys.. how are you taking off?

Just installed my Level 3 and got about 50 miles on it. From a dead stop its terribly painful trying to start out. The only way I can start going without it shaking the complete p!ss out of the car is from 1700-2000 RPM. Every other gear is super smooth but just getting started from a dead stop is difficult. Anyone else experience this? I followed directions to the T on my install. All new parts. The master is adjusted correctly. Hopefully some of you guys had this same issue and it goes away after a couple hundred miles.

The chatter will go away but do not slip the clutch during break-in. Just give it some gas and dump it

Hmm... will do.

I did a search and it seems like most threads I read claim there was little to no chatter. It makes me feel like i fudged something up..

If you're trying to slip the clutch during break-in it can shorten the life of the clutch. Some of them chatter alittle but once they are fully broken-in there should be none

My level 3 chattered pretty bad for a while. I just waited 500 miles before beating on it and waiting was the hardest part.

My brothers Stage 2 chattered pretty good when it warmed up. Chattered for over 500 miles. Think hes happy with it now after its been beat on some.

stage 5 ftw, no chatter OR BREAK IN. I had these issues when I had the level 3. But went away after the painful break in period.

Mine is just like that. I have 167 miles on it so far and it chatters pretty good unless I slip it out at around 1500 rpms, which doesn't sound good for clutch life. I'm not sure if reving it up higher and dumping it is all that much better though. Maybe one of the Monster rep's can comment on the best way to break this clutch in. Just like your's, mine feels like butter in every gear, and only chatters when taking off from a stop.

It will get better after the break in. I have a level 6 now, and it was broken in on the dyno, and then beat the snot out of. They are awesome clutches.

I'm at about 170 miles now and the chatter is not as extreme as it was. It still does it from a dead stop but it is minimal. Hoping it goes away in the next couple hundred miles. People look at me like I'm a noob driving a manual.

I have the Stage 3 monster, mine has the chromoly flywheel.

people thinking your a noob fk them, lol the first drive I had my cam in I must've stalled at EVERY light -People next to me laughed etc. I was kinda embarrassed until about 4 lights later and noticed people weren't laughing anymore when the car fired back up :

it was rough for the majority of the break in, then right at 38x miles mid s turn WHAM smoothness.

how I "take off" is just blip the gas (maybe 1200rpm, my idle is 950) and slip the clutch, If you mean launch don't do that yet lol but for me It seems about 2300rpm and a quick slip or dump work nicely.

It is fully broken in and has been for almost a year now, It still shudders and bucks like crazy if going into gear close to idle, I think I just need some deep gears. Anyway Just stick to your break in Its rough but worth it! and when all its all said and done Dump that mother next to a civic or pretty boy and pat yourself on the back

if your not supposed to slip the clutch during break-in, then why does monster recommend a 500 mile break-in period with as much stop-and-go driving as possible? 2000rpm dumps in bumper to bumper traffic sounds like an awful idea, to me at least.

I have just under 200 miles now and I do see improvement. I called Monster and asked them about break in. I asked if it was better to slip it out a "little" at 1500 rpm, or rev it up a bit higher and drop it out faster. He said it was up to me and either way would be fine. What works best for me is to slip it a tiny bit at a lower rpm like ~1500. The chatter is getting better the more miles I put on it, and I'm confident that it should be all but gone at 500 miles. I've been braking it in exactly as recommended, but it is killing me lol. I can't wait for 500 miles to roll over, so I can finally drive my car like it was meant to be driven!

Even after break in i don't "slip" the clutch much at all, more of a lil side step/dump, not as smooth, but the clutch will last longer. But really the low RPM slipping isn't what will kill a clutch, it's high RPM stuff.
NON of my Monsters have had ANY chatter, it will go away. I love my Level 6.

Are you sure your hydraulics are bled completely? The tick masters hold a lot of fluid and take some time to bleed all of the air out. I've done plenty of monsters with the tick master and they all engage smoothly right off idle immediately after installation and bleeding.

What does that have to do with chatter? I've had air bubbles, but that never caused chatter. Monster even says they will chatter, but will go away by 500 miles. All air bubbles have ever done to me is cause my clutch to stick to the floor. My clutch chattered initially...after about 120 miles it lessened and now at 200 miles it is almost gone. It will surely be a very smooth clutch after 500 miles, and most likely sooner.

Alomost all after market clutches "chatter" during the break in process.
Monsters seem to be the best on chatter. Suprised me on my Level 6, agressive Puck and 0 chatter, never. This clutch has never seen slower than 1.50's for a short time, and always power shifted.
