Default Someone tell me what happened here. PICS

This was the result of a 6K or more clutch dump on 28" slicks. The car is making right at 500whp, has a BMR full length TA with the relocation crossmember. So the TA is no mounted to the trans. I have a spec stage 5(this is my guess). A few weekends ago I broke a lingenfelter 3.5 aluminum DS doing the exact same thing(6k dump). So I had a local drive shaft shop build me a 3.5" steel driveshaft. I couldn't re-use the aftermarket slip yoke from the lingenfelter because it twisted the splines. So I used a stock one I had lying around.

Well it broke the ears off the new driveshaft, ears off the slip yoke, twisted the splines again, busted u joint in a million pieces, broke the tailshaft completely off, and busted the front of the case(close to the output shaft). It also broke my 9" center section. Not sure exactly why's broke in there, but only one axle was spinning. I have a spool lol. So here are the pics...tell me this is just from over powering stuff lol.

How sure are you about the driveshaft length, If it was too long that could cause severe damage in the scenario you described,, Either way sorry bout your luck but hey when you tear stuff up you do a great job, broke every piece involved in the drive line.

That was the first thing that came to mind. But it was the exact length as the lingenfelter. Plus you can tell by where the splines are twisted on the yoke, it was only about half way up the yoke. Just curious to how it busted the tailshaft when nothing is attached to it.

The trans being broken is probably the result of the driveshaft breaking.

Splines inside the yoke twisted and did not allow the driveshaft to compress under the hard acceleration. It then puts the tailhousing in a hard bind and thus breaks it.

(A) the yoke wall is too thin and (B) the material is too weak

You can try a billet yoke if you want to keep the factory mainshaft or you can step it up to a 30-31-32 spline mainshaft and install the correct matching yoke.

Yeah that would be the only thing to do I guess. Even though a few weekends ago I twisted the splines in a spicer yoke. I'm going to an automatic anyways so it doesn't really matter lol. Just wondering what was causing this crap

I switched to a chromemoly nitrated slip yoke after twisting 2 Strange yokes. I have one of those broken tailhousings laying around somewhere if you need another one.
